Edited to add new context:

Evidently Chaengwattana does NOT typically need a TM-27 (despite the comments below). The situation that makes this different is that I have not filed a 90 day report at my new home in Bangkok (because I've left the country multiple times and not stayed long enough for a 90 day report) so my last 90 day report from last year still reflects my old address. That's the cause of the situation and need to return next week.

----

Saw a related topic and thought I'd share a cautionary tale from today's visit to Chaengwattana. Error on my part, hopefully will get it worked out. Hadn't heard of this happening before, but I'm sure it has. Immigration officer said I was the second person today with a similar experience. Had been living in Hua Hin for a couple years then started to split my time with a place I rented in Bangkok.

Did the last two extensions of stay in Hua Hin (over 50, non-O). Last year, I left my place in Hua Hin and have been living exclusively in Bangkok. Did the Bangkok TM 30 once I moved for good, but did not file a change of address TM-27 (cue foreboding music).

Today I tried to get a new extension. Had every bit of paperwork I thought was necessary, but got caught out on not having done the address change and asked why I wasn't going to the Hua Hin office for my extension. Explained I hadn't been living there for almost a year and showed them my Bangkok rental contract and TM 30.

They asked for my last rental contract and TM 30 for my place in Hua Hin (which miraculously I had with me).

All ended up with them asking me to write a letter to the supervisor explaining my move, apologizing and asking for their consideration. Have to go back next week (with freshly updated bank letter, transaction record and bank book since it'll be beyond the 7 day period of the previous letter) to see if the extension was approved by the supervisor.

Sooo... Chaengwattana definitely appears to need the TM-27 filed if you move provinces.

I’m planning to go to Ho Chi Minh next month and apply for the DTV Soft Power program.

1. My bank account has been open for 6 months, with an average balance of $16,000, though at some points, it had $12,000. If I have around $16,000 at the time of application, would that be sufficient?

2. What documents did you submit as proof that you are in Ho Chi Minh? Would an Airbnb reservation and entry certificate be enough?

Thanks, friends!

Hi,

I’m getting my work permit again HR told me to extend my visa on arrival this week even though it was stamped until March 6th, does anyone know what the reason might be for making it before it runs out? I officially start my new job March 1st.

I also went to Imm Building B for my last extension, but they sent me to the IT Square building instead, is that the norm now?

Thank you so much

Hi everyone, I’m have a hard time tracking down information on visa’s and my situation. I am disabled and I am from the USA. I would like to stay in Thailand possibly permanently but as of right now I’m either looking at an education visa or the DTV. The immigration office I went to wasn’t much help. I think the language barrier was a bit of a problem for us.

Any how I’m a bit concerned with take the education route because I have various learning disabilities and I’m concerned I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the learning. So I started looking in to DTV seeing I have a non taxable income. However it looks as though you have to be a content creator or have some type of job. I am an artist but I don’t really sell my art.

Is the DTV right for me even though I have an income but not working? I’m technically retired but I don’t fit the requirements for the retirement visa based solely on age. I’m 3 years short. Can anyone offer any guidance on this? Thank you in advance 😊🙏

Not a big deal but CM immigration stamped me for July 27th and I entered today on DTV Jan 29th. The extra two days would be nice or am I not calculating the days right?

Did I get that right.

Visa is valid for 5 years. 2 times a year I can stay 180 days so 360 days a year. After that I have to leave once and then again 2 times 180 days? The whole 5 years?

-------------

Hi everyone.

What is the actual situation of the 90 days report online application? Do you recommend to do it?

I heard for months that it does not work and now that I have to do it for the first time I am afraid to try and if it doesn't work, make it more complicated to later do it again by visiting the inmigration office.

Our son and his wife are visiting Thailand soon. They will come directly to our house. Based on what I read here we will have to report to the immigration office on arrival. Is that correct?

Hey, would anyone be able to clarify the definition of ‘spouse’ in Thai visa law for the DTV visa? Can you be married in Thailand or does it have to be in your home country? Is proof of the relationship enough or do you NEED a marriage certificate?

For context, my partner and I have been together for 15 years and have a daughter. We have previously held partner de facto visas in Australia where proof of the relationship is accepted as eg; child’s birth certificate, photos and written statements, and a marriage certificate was not required.

Any guidance will be much appreciated 🙏🏽
