Looking to apply via soft power Muay Thai (no income but have the proof of funds needed) - I'm going back to the UK from Bangkok for 3 weeks as it's my home country, so might aswell apply for the DTV from there, as I've only seen good things about applying with the London embassy on this group.

Does anyone have any tips on what to include apart from the standard proof of 500k, UK address, recent photo, muay Thai course registration and proof? Do they ask for any more than this as extra docs? Anyone had a tough time getting it from the UK?

(Arrived in BKK at the end of Dec and used 1 visa exemption and just extended it a few weeks ago)

Hello, my DTV visa was approved recently and i was going to start using it in May but some family circumstances force me to head back sooner to Europe.

I don’t want to loose the DTV so i plan to only stay a week in TH and i don’t know when i will come back…normally 5-6 months after.

Is it a problem or i can do whatever i like since anyway my DTV is valid for 5 years ?

I wonder if an immigration agent can be surprised i only used it for one week and wait many months to come back…

Thanks all for the always good help here!

For those who applied for DTV online in Taiwan, did you submit application for main visa holder and dependents all at once? Or main visa holder first and dependents later?

Yeah, I know that the law requiring taxes for staying over 180 days has been in effect since last year. But honestly, I've never seen anyone around me actually paying taxes while staying here all year. Have you guys ever seen anyone who paid? 😂😂

So, do parents of international school students also have to pay taxes while living here? If that’s the case, who would even send their kids to school here? 🤣🤣

Does anyone know if extending a DTV in BKK requires proof of funds for just the past month or the past six months?

1.) Generally speaking, it is much more "easy and straightforward" to apply for a DTV at a Thai Embassy/Consulate nearby Thailand:

Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, perhaps Malaysia, etc.

2.) Even at Thai Embassies/Consulates in some OECD Member Countries, the overall process could also be described as "easier and more straightforward", such as:

Australia, UK, USA, etc.

3.) Nevertheless, curious about field reports/experiences of applying for a DTV at the Thai Embassy in Tokyo

4.) From new information on the Website of the Thai Embassy in Tokyo, it seems that non-residents of Japan PERHAPS may be able to apply for a DTV E–Visa at Tokyo, as the stated evidence for "non-residents of Japan" is:

Entry Stamp into Japan showing the Passport Book #,

e.g. older versions of USA Passport Books do not have the Passport # on every page of (older) USA Passport Books

5.) Also, even though all Thai Embassies and Consulates accept and issue E–Visas via the Thai eVisa website, the Thai Embassy in Tokyo has a "Preliminary Consultation" specific for DTV E–Visa applications BEFORE submitting a DTV E–Visa application on the Thai eVisa Website

I want to go to and apply from HCMC in the coming days. I believe I have to show proof that I’m staying in the country. Ideally I want an Airbnb for two weeks, but when I asked chatgpt, it said that’s not really proof of longer term stay, like a rental agreement. Has anyone experience with this? Any recommendations?
