What proof is required to apply for a visa from HCMC, Vietnam?

I want to go to and apply from HCMC in the coming days. I believe I have to show proof that I’m staying in the country. Ideally I want an Airbnb for two weeks, but when I asked chatgpt, it said that’s not really proof of longer term stay, like a rental agreement. Has anyone experience with this? Any recommendations?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a visa in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), you need to provide proof that you are currently in the country. This typically includes an entry stamp in your passport or a visa, along with evidence of accommodation. While an Airbnb booking can serve as proof of stay, it may be viewed as less formal compared to a rental agreement. Recommendations suggest providing the entry stamp, flights, and hotel receipts or invoices, even for a short stay, to fulfill the requirements.

I applied at hcmc. The proof they asked for was photo of every page in my passport, and a photo of me standing in front of hotel holding hotel invoice with the time shown in the back ground. Hotel invoice was for just one night.

Why not just search the group for answers about HCMC, then all the needed info will be presented to you.

They want proof you're in the country like an entry stamp or Visa but they'd also like proof that you're in the jurisdiction that they cover, so a hotel receipt etc.

so I must be in HCMC, not Da Nang? Or?

Anonymous participant when you start the online application you will select Vietnam, from there a popup will state which consulate has jurisdiction over your current location, you select the consulate and stay in that jurisdiction while the process completes

It’s just proof that you’re in Vietnam whilst applying for the DTV

What people usually provide as that proof is; the entry stamp in their passport from Vietnam immigration at the airport. Their boarding pass from the airline, and their accommodation proof, which an AirBnB booking/receipt is.

Do you mean proof of being in Thailand or in Vietnam?

Vietnam, since that’s where I’d be applying from. As far as I’m aware, proof of being in Thailand is irrelevant, is it not? Educate me 😁

Anonymous participant You don’t need evidence of LT stay in Vietnam. We sent in three days of hotel stay in Hanoi and that was sufficient. They just want to know you are in the country when you are applying. Also, make sure you send in your entry stamp from your passport or they will come back to you and request it which slows down the process

how about duration-wise? I’ve read somewhere it’s not a good idea for short duration airbnbs to be used as evidence, but it could be nonsense or may not apply for HCMC, for example.

(As mentioned, I don’t want to stay in HCMC for more than necessary)

Anonymous participant You are not showing you are living in Vietnam only that you are staying while your application is processed. Some embassies disprove of short term Airbnbs for long term residency evidence, you are not living in Vietnam just making an application. It is not a problem using an Airbnb to apply for the DTV, other applicants have used the same and similar platforms. Show the duration of the time you intend to stay in Vietnam. 5 business days is average for Vietnam so a bit more than that should be suffice.

so in actuality, I don’t even need to be in HCMC? I could be in Da Nang, etc?
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant You can apply in another city, you just have to check if the city comes under HCMC or Hanoi approval. They cover different areas.
