Yes, it is *compulsory* to have a TM30 form during the 90-day reporting (TM47). After completing TM47 reporting, the officer will give you a stamped paper confirming that the 90-day report was submitted on time. Please keep this paper safely along with your passport.
🍀🍀TM47 – 90-Day Reporting:
👉You can report 15 days before or up to 7 days after your 90-day period ends.
👉This gives you a 22-day window to report.
👉If you miss this period, you will have to pay a fine.
🍀🍀For DTV Holders:
You must go to the Chaeng Watthana Immigration Bureau for 90-day reporting. Here’s how to get there:
Option 1: By BTS + MRT (Train)
1. Take the BTS Green Line to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station.
2. Interchange to the Pink Line and go to the Government Complex station.
3. Exit using the left-side staircase, and walk towards the area between National Telecom and the Government Complex.
4. On the way, you’ll see the entrance to the Government Complex (a large open, green area).
5. Ask the guard for the free shuttle bus to the Immigration Office — they will guide you to it.
6. Take the shuttle; it will drop you directly at the Immigration Bureau.
Option 2: Grab/Bolt
👉Take a Grab or Bolt for a faster, direct trip.
📍 Location on Google Maps: Chaeng Watthana Immigration Office
🍀🍀✨Best Time to Go:
👉The best time to go is around 7:00 AM, as queue tickets are distributed from 8:15 AM to 3:30 PM.
👉The earlier you arrive, the earlier you’ll get your queue number.
👉There are usually over 600 people per day reporting for 90-day check-ins.
👉The first thing you must do upon arrival is take a queue ticket.
🍀🍀TM47 Form (90-Day Reporting Form):
👉You need to fill out a TM47 form before your turn at the counter.
👉You can fill it after taking your queue ticket, or before you go.
👉TM47 forms are available at the information desk at the Immigration Office.
👉You can also download the TM47 form online and fill it in advance to save time.
🍀🍀Important Documents & Notes:🍀🍀
✅Your original passport is required.
✅You must appear in person for the first-time report.
✅If you’re sick, busy, or under special circumstances, your spouse can go on your behalf with an authorization letter.
🔈🔈The letter must include:🔈🔈
♦️Your full name
♦️Passport number
♦️Residence address (must match the TM30 form)
♦️Your spouse’s full name and passport number
♦️Your original signature
✅TM30 Form is required — ask your landlord or residence owner for it.
✋✋Final Note:✋✋
Well, this is exactly the process my spouse and I followed for our TM47 (90-day reporting). We are both on the Soft Skill Visa (Muay Thai Visa) — I as the main applicant and my spouse as a dependent.
Please note that procedures may vary slightly, so it’s always a good idea to double-check updated information online or with immigration based on your visa type and location.
“Just in case bring your passport, visa, residence address agreement letter photo copy, marriage certificate in case of spouse, spouse passport visa “ Photo copies of all important documents, this is not mandatory because in my case they just ask for original passport, TM 47 form, TM 30 form and because just because I have also done my spouse (vice-versa) I have to give the authorization letter as well.
90 days report discoveries that cost me 4,000 baht and many wasted hours:
1. Even if you have yearly rental contract and the owner filled up TM.30 when you moved with expire date all the way to the next 12 months IF you get out of the country it’s not valid anymore. Every time you enter Thailand you need to do TM.30 address report again. Ignore that the existing TM.30 “check out date: 30.12.2025” - they don’t accept it and treat as non existent.
The punishment: 1600 baht and need to bring them copies of full rental contract + id of owner + house book.
(collecting rent documents is much bigger punishment).
2. You can do the 90 days report 14 days before the date and 7 days after. Each late day is 500 baht, maximum 2000 baht.
If you will come on the 8th day they treat it as you late 8 days and not 1 days late. Even if you have Documentation of ER stay due to a car accident on these weeks - won’t help. Punishment: 2000 baht, very long queue to pay it and airport officers asking extra questions due to fine stamp on the passport.
In short: every time you fly into Thailand, you need to ask for TM30 even if you’re on yearly contact and even if you left Thailand only for 24 hours. Don’t wait for last moment to do the 90 days report, you never know maybe a pickup truck will crash into you in the exact day you planned to do the report.
Looking for a recommendation for a local insurance company and travel insurance (baggage delay, loss, etc) that covers DTV holders. My current insurance starts and ends in my home country which I don’t actually reside in so not applicable - any help is appreciated!
Taxation of Tax Residents - look at the video 3:15.
Interesting 3 points made.
Some very good info in here I had not heard before. One thing that was new to me is banks report to revenue all accounts with over 2 million THB in or 400+ transactions a year.
Bottom line for DTV holders - unless you are remitting large amounts of money you earned in the same tax year you are tax resident then do not worry so much about tax.
EDIT: Around 30 mins they clear up ATM and CC use - yes it counts as remmitance
Been here nearly 6 month so getting close to doing my first border run. Has anyone done an organised minivan border run from pattaya for there next 180 days yet?
I messaged a local agent asking if how much for a border run, they replied 3800baht for 60 days, I replied I had the dtv so would automatically get 180 days to which they replied oh the price is 5800 baht, when I asked why they said its because you get more days, I asked why that matters it's the same distance your taking me and there's no extra cost to you. Your getting more days so you pay more was the reply! Gotta love Thailand, always a way of them getting a few extra baht when they can!!
Edit. I do have a car, just dont fancy doing the trip on my own and getting stuck on the cambodian side if for any reason i dont get back in 🙄
