Hello from Canada,

I am considering coming to Thailand on an ED Visa to study Thai. Google says I will need to take courses for a minimum of 15 hours / week. Could someone tell me how a typical weekly course schedule looks like? I am most interested in learning online but am open to classes if the fit is better. Also how many hours of studying are typically required, on top of the hours in class, per week? I would be most grateful for responses to these inquiries! 🙏🙏

Many thanks in advance!!!

Does anyone know of a bank in Thailand that has a savings account that has a percentage interest rate similar to a CD in an American Bank to allow the money to grow? 3.50-4.50%. This would be for the marriage requirements to have the $400,000 baht in an account. Is it possible to open an account and just leave it and let it grow?

Planning on entering from the US with a non OA visa. Will be staying with my son (US citizen teaching english) in Petchabun for approximately 3 to 6 months while determining where I want to live. How will this affect my TM30 and opening a bank account if I can’t show a lease agreement? Thanks in advance

I post again.

I applied DTV Visa for Workcation in Tokyo embassy. And my visa was approved but my visa type was Tourist TR visa for 6 months

I think Tokyo embassy is very strict so you should not apply in Tokyo.

And I want to ask someone

Can I stay in Thailand for this period without immigration with this tourist visa ? or do I have to leave Thailand in every 60 days ?

Please someone tell me 🙇

Hi all. I looked up online the Thai holidays in May, I'll list below:

* Thursday, May 1st: Labour Day (observed by banks and the private sector, but government offices are typically open)

* Sunday, May 4th: Anniversary of the Coronation of King Maha Vajiralongkorn (National Holiday)

* Monday, May 5th: Coronation Holiday (Substitution Holiday)

* Friday, May 9th: The Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day (Government Holiday and Bank Holiday)

* Sunday, May 11th: Visakha Bucha Day (Buddha Day) (National Holiday)

* Monday, May 12th: Day off for Visakha Bucha (National Holiday)

So if in Cambodia, it normally takes 11 working days to get the DTV. If I submitted on April 27, am I supposed to add this number of days of holidays to 11 to determine when I might get approved?

I'm guessing more than 3 weeks wait time.

Hey everyone! 🙋‍♂️ Has anyone applied for the Soft Power Visa at the Hanoi Embassy and had it processed in *one go*? 🌏 What documents did you submit? Would love to hear your experience!

I would like to ask for some insight from those who have recently renewed a retirement visa… I applied from within Thailand and received my one-year extension back in December. At that time, because I applied from within the country, I did not have to submit health insurance documentation. I have read some updates lately that sound like now all initial and renewal applications will require proof of min 3M THB in health insurance coverage in order to be approved… I have done all of my applications on my own and would like to know from others recent experience, will I need to prepare health insurance documents for my next renewal? Thank you in advance.

Hi!

Does anyone here have in-person experience in setting up a BOI promoted company?

I don’t mean a shell-company, but an actual one.

I’ve been to two legal offices, met two different lawyers and both stated that what I’m willing to do both meets all requirements for BOI promotion and looks well-calculated in terms of business plan, but they proposed two completely different approaches to the process itself.

#1. Suggested filing for the BOI promotion under my name and then, when approved, filing for incorporation

#2. Insisted on starting with renting an actual office and setting up the company first, then applying for the BOI promotion

Option 1. is obviously tempting as it involves substantially less cost hence virtually no financial risk whatsoever(except for processing fees and lawyer’s remuneration) in case my applications gets rejected.

But

Option 2. Although more expensive (paying the rent and accounting fees for a practically idle company for at least several months), seems a bit more intuitive, as an already existing company obviously looks more convincing than a private individual who is only about to set up a company.

Does anyone have any experience in any of the above routes?
