I have worked out everything so will be applying to the embassy in the US for the β€œO” visa to get my 90 days coming into Thailand which should hopefully allow me to open my Thai Bank Account and transfer the 800k Baht to season for 60 days so I am able to file my one year extension.

My question is I do know the area I think I want to start out and was planning on using Airbnb. I am wondering if this feasible or if I actually would need a more permanent address? I am hesitant to go straight into a one year lease and everything I see all say one year contracts or is there a way to terminate a lease early. Or is there a place to look for shorter term leases?

Thanks in advance!!

What if you wanted to legitimately tour parts of Thailand only for a total of five months a year, split into two stays, july and august and then later in Dec, Jan, Feb. Do you think you need to get a retirement visa, or some other form of visa, or can you just come in on a tourist visa?

Hi everyone!

I’m planning to apply for the Soft Power DTV visa from the Thailand consulate in Chennai and I had a few questions. I’d really appreciate any help from people who have applied recently:

1. What documents did you submit?

2. How many working days did it take to receive the visa?

3. For the bank statement requirement, do they expect to see personal savings history, or is it okay as long as the account reflects the required balance at the time of submission?

Thanks so much in advance for any guidance or tips!

I've been approved for a DTV, but I'm running out of pages in my passport. Since immigration officers love to completely waste pages by stamping 3 pages ahead, I only have maybe 10 more pages. Which I'm not sure will last 5 years. If I have to get a new passport, will my DTV still apply?

So I just got through with the retirement Visa process. After some misinformation, a long day and three Bank runs I finally got the stamp of approval, on the very last day of my immigration o Visa status. Things I learned:

-Bring a blue ink pen to immigration.

-Keep and organized all of the original stamped documents together.

- Do not need duplicate or triplicate of anything (as some there have said) for the retirement Visa, just one perfect copy is sufficient.

- Make sure you have your funds in the Thai bank for 2 months and all documents are two weeks fresh, before filing.

-Make sure you have enough time on your tourist visa to accomplish this, otherwise you will be filing for extension.

- Only need one TM 30 for the last/current residence staying at.

-Make sure there are no national holidays on the day you file. πŸ˜…

After that, need to file every 90 days.

Not clear on the status of the Visa if leaving the country though.

SawadeeKa, don't u sweat bra.πŸ˜…πŸ™πŸΌ

I have got dtv visa approval from Indonesia today but i am in Thailand with tourist visa after leaving Indonesia a few days ago. My question is whether I have to go back to Indonesia and enter Thailand with dtv visa or i can go to other neighboring countries and come back to Thailand. Lets me know. Your advice will be helpful. I don’t want to go back to Indonesia again.

Hello everyone,

I just got my DTV visa approved. Question - do I need to have the $16k sitting in my bank account on arrival? Cause right now I have only about a half of that there.

I have heard "scary" stories that people are being checked on entry for the $16k amount. I can top it up again - but that will take me a couple of days and will require me to transfer funds from accounts that I don't want touch unless absolutely necessary.

So has anyone had ACTUAL experience of immigration checking the bank account on arrival? Thanks a lot.

Hi, I am a UK passport holder with DTV issued October 2024 from the London Embassy.

I have just renewed my UK passport. I'm travelling into Thailand again in December 2025.

What do I need to do regarding the new passport number, when I get to immigration as the DTV document states old passport details?

Or is there something I should do before I travel?

Thank you in advance for your help.
