I'm just wondering if anyone has applied with funds in a Thai bank account and whether that would make things easier or harder since DTV holders are not allowed to open a bank account.

I've got mine opened around 6 years ago when I worked as an English teacher in Thailand.

So I came into Thailand on a tourist visa thinking I could change it to an o-retirment visa and my wife who is a Filipina. I am over 50 and my wife under 30. I went to immigratin in Hua hin and they told me I have to leave the country and apply for a non-o visa. I have gone to the webiste [members only]/. and filled in the application, however I have been told that my wife will get a non-o based on my status, but then I read online that she needs to apply for non-o also. So do we need two applications, one for her and one for me? Please onlu answer if you have done this in the last month or two.

Hey everyone 🙏☺️

I arrived here on a visa exempt. I will apply here at immigration for a non o visa based of visiting family (my thai hustband)

Do anyone know what happends when I get the visa. Do I have to leave Thailand and come back for the non o visa to be activated? And if so, can I just boarder bounce? By plane? Or have to stay outside thailand a certain days?

Also when its approved, if I do have to leave, how fast after its approved to I have to leave?

Thank so much in advance and i am grateful for any help 🫶

Hello,

I entered into Thailand phuket on 25th Sept on a Non O Visa based on marriage.

The final stamp in my passport is 23rd December.

A 30 days prior I will apply for my 12 month extension.

I’ve had 400,000 in my thai bank account for several months now and intend to leave it there forever.

My question is I’m going to visit my mother in Australia for a week mid October.

If I got a multi re-entry permit before I visit my mother will that transfer over to my visa extension on December 23rd going forward?

Or is it better to get a single re-entry permit until I get my visa extension?

Thanks in advance 🙏

I havent been to thailand since mid july, my account was frozen in june. I visited a branch and gave them all the paperwork and a sweet lady agreed to open it again. As there has been so many problems with these accounts after I left, do they usually close them 2 times in a row? I am on the DTV visa, I am not married, no kids and no rental contract. but i desperately need a bank account so I can transfer money here for tax purposes. If they wont allow me I guess the elite visa is my only option for opening up an account? Thats gonna be one expensive bank account!

Here is the form submitted today at kasikorn to obtain the certificate of inward transfer. My friend says that immigration and for visa renewal are mentioned in the purpose for the certificate. The bank keeps this form.

Just checking

We married in The Netherlands and want to register our marriage in Thailand too. Than I can base the yearly extention of a Non-immigrant O visa on our marriage. I had our marriage certificate legalized here in The Netherlands by the MFA and the Thai embassy. So far so good.

I found a translator in Bangkok who will do the registration at the MFA in Bangkok. For that I will provide here with the legalized marriage certificate, a legalized copy of my passport by the Dutch embassy, a copy of the Thai identity card of my spouse and his Tabien Baan. The translator will send the registered document to our address in Phitsanulok. Than I will register our marriage at the municipality (Amphur). I was told that I should insist to keep the original marriage certificate for Immigration, the Amphur should keep a copy. I hope this goes well. Anyone who has experience with this?

Having done all this, after two months of stay I can ask Immigration for extension of my visa, based on our marriage. My Thai spouse has a bank account with more than 400,000 baht, so I don't need a bank account of my own. At least that's what Immigration told me in April when we were there. But if necessary I can open a bank account of my own with a Certificate of Residence, to be provided by Immigration. To be sure, I will check again with Immigration after our arrival.

For the extension next year we will not have 400,000 baht any more on my spouses bankaccount, we will use the money for a house (to assure my rights, we will register an Usufruct agreement for as long as I live). But the Dutch embassy can provide an affidavit about my pension, that's enough. Just to be sure, I will also check this with Immigration.

Anyone any comment? Did I miss something? Thank you.
