Does anyone know why the visa fee is 12,500 baht (600aud) and not 10,000 as advised?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the discrepancy in the visa fee for Thailand, where one person questions why it is 12,500 baht instead of the previously advised 10,000 baht. I paid in Brazil BRL 2,000. About 12,200 Baht. I think it's fair.

@ANONYMOUS MEMBER OK I'm not a mind-reader. Which visa and what company please.....

NZ charge nearly 40,000 baht to apply there. I think Laos does them for 10,000, but it’s probably going to cost you more than 2,500 baht to get there and stay during the processing time.

I paid 14,000 in Hong Kong

Nothing thai is ever standardized, they all make up their own rules and fees.

Any specific Thai Embassy/Thai Consulate has discretion to set their Consular Service Fees and Rates, just like they have discretion for additional requirements and request additional documents, for example, specifically relating to DTV E–Visa, a Thai Embassy/Thai Consulate may say seasoning of the minimum 500,000.- Thai Baht in your bank account for a minimum of 1 month, 3 months, even 6 months, or, another example is that 500k Thai Baht must be a personal account (savings or checking) at a retail, brick & mortar bank vs. a brokerage account or Wise/Revolut account or investment account, etc. etc.

Specifically for Thai E–Visa Fees, the most egregious example is the Thai Embassy in Wellington where all their Consular Fees, Rates, and Charges are well above their neighbors (Thai Embassy in Canberra or Thai Consulate in Sydney)

inexplicably expensive at the Thai Embassy in Wellington

However, the only locations where the Thai E–Visa Fees are exactly as stated in the regulations as published in the Thai Royal Gazette are at: Thai Embassy in Vientiane and Thai Consulate in Savannakhet as they are they only locations that accept Thai Baht

I’m not complaining about it I have a DTV already my comment was to show the guy that complaining about the 12,000 baht fee in Australia is nothing compared to what NZ folk are paying
