Sharing experience from Kathmandu, Nepal

29 July, Tue morning: Applied (along with Manager's cheque - because a direct online payment system is not in place)

29 July, Tue afternoon: Request document

30 July, Wed morning: Submitted additional document (in my case, accommodation)

30 July, Wed afternoon: Status changed from pending document check to pending approval

31 July, Thu: Got invited to an interview

1 Aug, Fri: Went to the embassy for the interview. The interview lasted for 5 mins. Questions were related to work and income. Was issued the visa right after.

---

3 Aug Sunday: Landed in Bangkok

(My original flight was 9 Aug thinking that it would take time but rescheduled after getting DTV.

Experience at the airport (DMK): I handed my passport along with a print out of the visa. No question asked.

I was already in BKK on a tourist visa. Flew on 27 July Sunday. Was planning to submit the application on 28 July Monday but it happened to be a Thai official holiday, so ended up having a "rest day". So basically, I flew on Sunday and came back the next Sunday. I could have come back a day earlier but that became another "rest day" after I found out the airlines I wanted to reschedule did not have a flight that day. All done within a week, regardless.

Why did I go to Nepal?

I am a citizen there. After I found out it's difficult for this "weak passport" holder to apply from a Thai embassy/consulate in countries other than the country of nationality, I did not have much choice.

---

On documents

Financial: Submitted six months statement. I had the required amount for each month.

Work: Submitted my contract, the job vacancy as advertised, resume. Also a cover letter in a merged pdf. Also mentioning my past travel history in Thailand.

Flight tickets, return trip (at the end of six months)

Accommodation: Hotel reservations from Booking.

---

Huge thanks to this group for sharing their advice and experience (especially this one on Nepal: [members only]/). I benefited from this group and posting this for the benefit of others.

I got approved yesterday afternoon in Vientiane 🇱🇦, filled out TDAC at Wattay international airport, entered Thailand through Suvannabhumi airport last night, no questions asked, officer just scanned the QR on my e-visa on my phone, he was even smiling (must be in a good mood 🤭)

I checked the stamp, confirmed it was for 6 months

I was on Non-Ed visa, cancelled it at the immigration before I left for Laos

Workation

Freelancer

Applied on June 22, paid on June 23, interview was yesterday morning, 12 business days in total, worth the wait!!!

Let me know if you have any questions. I will try my best to answer them.

For my DTV e-visa application, should I include my YouTube and digital-work income in my portfolio PDF, or submit it separately in the income section along with bank statements showing over 500,000 THB?

And should the professional portfolio be a single PDF containing the cover letter, CV, and all attachments?

Sharing my experience with my first 90-Day Report at Koh Samui Immigration! It was super quick—took only 15 minutes (though it might depend on the day). I just submitted my original passport, TM30, and a printed copy of my DTV E-Visa. After that, they told me to head upstairs, waited about 5-7 minutes, and it was all done! Smooth process, no hassle. Hope this helps anyone preparing for theirs! 🙏

Can I apply for a DTV (e-visa) and then leave the country (not to Thailand) while the application is pending/being reviewed? Want to get a DTV while it's still relatively lax, but I'm in a situation where I won't be spending more than 25-30 days in any country for the next few months and my embassy (Ankara) seems to be very slow judging by comments I've managed to find online

What is the feedback of recent DTV E–Visa applications submitted at the Thai Embassy in Manila?

Are there any seasoning of funds (minimum time period) requirements for the 500k for DTV E–Visa applications at Manila?

Is only submitting a Sponsorship/Guarantee Letter by the Primary DTV Visa Holder sufficient or does the Thai Embassy request recent Bank Statements of the Primary DTV Visa holder?

This is the most recent E–Visa Guidelines released from the Thai Embassy in Manila, dated 5 March 2025

1.) Generally speaking, it is much more "easy and straightforward" to apply for a DTV at a Thai Embassy/Consulate nearby Thailand:

Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, perhaps Malaysia, etc.

2.) Even at Thai Embassies/Consulates in some OECD Member Countries, the overall process could also be described as "easier and more straightforward", such as:

Australia, UK, USA, etc.

3.) Nevertheless, curious about field reports/experiences of applying for a DTV at the Thai Embassy in Tokyo

4.) From new information on the Website of the Thai Embassy in Tokyo, it seems that non-residents of Japan PERHAPS may be able to apply for a DTV E–Visa at Tokyo, as the stated evidence for "non-residents of Japan" is:

Entry Stamp into Japan showing the Passport Book #,

e.g. older versions of USA Passport Books do not have the Passport # on every page of (older) USA Passport Books

5.) Also, even though all Thai Embassies and Consulates accept and issue E–Visas via the Thai eVisa website, the Thai Embassy in Tokyo has a "Preliminary Consultation" specific for DTV E–Visa applications BEFORE submitting a DTV E–Visa application on the Thai eVisa Website
