Looking to move my family of 8 and possibly mother in law to Bangkok in summer 2026. Give me some advice please.

We currently homeschool but are very open to the education visa for our children. Ages 18(interested in Culinary), 14,10,8,4,1. What would be the best option for such a big family?

We don’t have the baht requirement for us all to be on DTV., only myself would cover the Baht requirements .

My children are US Passport holders and their mom. I’m a Jamaican Passport holder . Would the requirement make a bid difference ?

Also, has anyone done a retirement visa. My mother is 80 on a fixed income. Any advice on that.

I’m looking help This year, I visited Thailand twice for short layovers—each time staying one night before returning to the UK and then back to Vietnam. I used the digital arrival card both times and didn’t need a visa.

My DTV has been granted. It took 5 weeks in London embassy.

Question. I always struggle with Sims in Thailand, sudden loss of internet, top ups. Can anyone suggest a continuous and smooth sim please .

I applied for a DTV under a cooking program at the Korean Embassy a week ago, but today I received a rejection email from the embassy. There were no missing documents.

In this situation, do you think there’s a chance if I revise the letter to the ambassador and reapply? Or is it basically impossible to reapply at the same embassy once it’s been rejected?

I got a DTV on 27th Dec and the passport in my application it will expire on 15 Dec 2026. I just arrived today in thailand and i was stamped 6 months.

It is clear that i need to get a new passport before june and before leaving thailand.

- once i have the new passport do i need to go to the immigration office and ask to put a transfer or special stamp in my new passport?

- will i need to carry always both passports with me?

Thanks

Can I apply for the DTV from my home country if I’m not actually located there?

I am from the US and have been in Thailand for a few months now, planning to apply for the digital nomad DTV. I was going to do it from Laos and use a parent sponsorship but learned that Asian countries don’t take parent sponsorship letters. My parents transferred money into my account but only a few weeks ago.

I’m hearing that the DTV may get cancelled or the requirements may change, so I’d like to apply sooner than later. Can I leave Thailand (go to Hanoi for example) and put my location as my residence in the US and apply from the US embassy in DC?

Additionally, does anyone have a definitive answer on if the Hanoi embassy has a seasoning requirement for the 500,000 baht?

Thank you in advance!
