TLDR : Answer Summary
The process to obtain Thai citizenship for your daughter, who is born to a Thai mother, can start from the Thai embassy in London, where you'll need to inquire about the specific documents required, including her birth certificate and proof of your wife's Thai citizenship. Many commenters suggest that it may be more straightforward to handle the paperwork once you are in Thailand, where you can get her Thai birth certificate and then register her for Thai citizenship through the local district office. It's also noted that children of Thai parents can obtain dual nationality, allowing her to hold both Thai and British passports.

We have done it with our daughter.

You first need to get a Thai birth certificate for your daughter from the Embassy

It might be AI but that is what we saw with my Thai daughter then living in Japan (whole family).

The ID is linked to house papers (Blue Book) , my daughter was in wife's blue book in one of the provinces. When the Blue book was issued for our condo in Bangkok (Samut Prakan) she was 18 and got a new Thai ID for that address. Not a big deal even that both wife and daughter were removed from the house papers in that province (Sa Kaew).

When she (the daughter) needed her Thai passport renewed in Australia, the Royal Thai Consulate in Sydney asked for only 2 things: the expired passport and her Thai ID card.

From the net, but that is how it was for us:

Issuance Details

First ID Card: Must be obtained in Thailand to verify documents and personal identification.

Child ID (Blue Card): Issued to minors (7-20 years old) who have a birth certificate and are in the household registration.

Standard ID (Pink/Blue): Issued to those 15 and older, with the title changing from child to adult.

Make sure when you eventually get her Thai passport that the name is the same as her UK one.

My daughter had problems renewing her UK because her middle name wasn't shown on her Thai passport.

Where you start depends where your daughter is born. Is she born in the UK? Then yes the start point is the Thai embassy there. Is she born in Thailand? Then the start point is the district office in Thailand, where she was registered at birth.

Get Thai passport for your daughter before travel to Thailand. Once you're in Thailand, bring the birth certificate to district office to add your daughter in the house registration book which your wife has her name in. Then get the Thai ID for your daughter

I think your daughter needs to be included on the family book in Thailand. You have to be in Thailand to do this. The embassy in London should be able to confirm the requirements. Emails are usually quicker.

Okay, my first answer was perhaps a bit short.

A) for Thai citizenship, you should do it in Thailand - much simpler.

B) you might want to take care that the kids have a UK citizenship, too.

So, after you are certain about B) (either way), tackle A)

To make it more clear: your kid is already a Thai citizen, it only lacks the papers. Having a Thai parent makes you a Thai citizen - or gives you the privilege to be one. The rest is just paper work.

Do it in Thailand. Makes no sense to bother an embassy with that.

every kid born to a Thai mother can get a Thai passport, regardless where the kid was born. However technically only in countries that allow double citizenships. Just get an appointment with the Royal Thai Embassy London, take the birth certificate with you and documents which prove the mother is a Thai citizen, visit the embassy and apply

I applied for birth certs 2 weeks ago at the thai embassy London. Daughters are 9 and 12. 2 forms to fill in. You book an appointment via email. Passport appointments are booked later online once you have the certs. I have all the info you need you want it. Homeschooling is okay for your daughter in Thailand. Many ways to do it online. There's a wealth of homeschooling guidance. Don't worry about the naysayers.

It’s easier than you think if she’s still relatively young. It’s good to do it ASAP so to give her that extra option in life. If your wife’s Thai documents are all up to date then it should be fairly straightforward. Please do some research and inquire with the Thai consulate/embassy in London as soon as you can. Good luck.

So you are going to completely destroy your daughter's future by moving from a half decent country to a country where education is minimal and not internationally recognised ?

Let me guess, the only money you have is the sale of the family house and you won't be able to pay the Bt1m a year international school fees which still only produce poor results ?

But you want an easy life, beaches and cheap beer ?

I lived in Thailand, had a daughter and took her to the UK to give her a private education so she had a start in life. Yes, that meant I sacrificed my life, but doesn't any decent dad do that for his kid ?

Andy JohnstonUK is practically a third world country with a failed society. Who would want to school their kids there?

Thailand have great international schools where over 80% of pupils get accepted into international universities.

Safety comes first.

Give U.K. Eire another few years

You'll need a gun here for protection.

Better being in a poor country happy.

Than being mentally destroyed raped stabbed or murdered by unvetted migrants

Easy to do , I’m assuming your daughter is a child ? If so we got ours via the local temple 🛕 who have visits twice a year from the Thai embassy to help with issues like this … Manchester area we did it in approximately 13-14 years ago.

I live in Canada and my Thai - Canadian wife are doing the same for are daughters. In Canada

#1 need to get another birth certificate and marriage certificate each item cost $57.00 dollars.

#2 then I have to go to notary public ( Canada version of a cheap lawyer) and they photo copy my Canadian passport and authorize it.

#3 we mailed the 2 daughters birth certificates and marriage licence to provincial government (BC) to authenticate.

#4 took all documents to Thai embassy in Vancouver 2 birth certificates. 1 marriage certificate and my photo copied authorized passport. Right now they are hopefully okaying everything and when that is done for us are first passport and Thai ID have to be done in Thailand.

I am assuming UK is probably very similar.

yes i know she is british and i have daughter who is british as well and my daughter now she get thai citizenship, I'm thai and i contact with Thai embassy in london by send an e-mail to make an appointment with them to make her thai birth certificate first in London, before get an appointment thai embassy will send you all details and documents tell you what they need to you to prepare also the form to apply for her thai birth certificate. Once you have all papers and documents what they need you can book the date to go to thai embassy. For my recommend is his Thai wife should contact with Thai embassy by herself because it easy to contact with them. Once they have her thai birth certificate from Thai embassy in london bring this certificate to Thailand where the Thai mother born to register the birth at the district area after this she can make thai passport or whatever.
