Just completed my trip to Myanmar via Ranong. We drove down in our car and parked by the pier. Immediately we were offered boat trips so we paid a guy 1000bt to take us. I was the only one on the boat. In addition 500 bt for Visa. Everyone was very helpful including immigration on both sides.

This was my first time not flying in and out on DTV so was happy for the guy's help and didn't begrudge the 1k. Overall it took 2 hrs in total. No questions at all about my DTV. Not asked about funds or anything. 180 more days in my passport

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares their experience of traveling from Ranong to Myanmar, detailing the payment of 1000 baht for a private boat trip and an additional 500 baht for a visa. The trip was smooth, taking about two hours, with friendly assistance from immigration services. They mention obtaining an extra 180 days on their passport without issues regarding the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). Several comments inquire about visa extensions for visa-free travel, insights into immigration's requirements, and the need for specific documentation.

Hi everyone I just check out the DTV requirements and need your help on some clarification. Right now I just visited Chiang Rai and wanted to learn cooking class and cultural manufacturing class like whiskey, food and other farming manufacturing which was one of my dream goals.

I saw on the DTV requirements course there is Cooking classes.

Is there anyone on the group who can help with more details.

Do the immigration provide us with a specific company or should I need to search for cooking class towards local with permit please as I am confused about it

Thank you for all help and God Bless🙏

Interesting, because in 2024 Ranong immigration was being fussy about showing the three proofs, even if you were on a marriage visa but you could talk your way out of them.

This happened even if you clearly told them that you're spending several days in Myanmar.

CleverRadish5177 Could I have done it cheaper. Probably yes. But 30 quid for another 6 months in Thailand seems good value.

Well sure...1000 Baht isn't even enough to pay for fuel to drive down to Ranong from Bangkok, so it's a fairly minor cost in the grand scheme of things.

Anonymous participant 928 yes. The guy basically stayed with me and sorted everything. It is a bit different than I expected. We had to stop and show my passport in 3 different places- police, army and finally immigration. He helped me throughout. At Myanmar immigration they ask if you are staying overnight. If not they stamp entry and exit at same time. Againy boat driver just remindede to check all my stamps.

Do you know if I would get 30 days extension on visa free tourist travel doing that?

We drove up there from Khaolak last year but couldn't find anyone to help us, or the correct Pier.

as mentioned, 30 day extension is gotten at immigration, not at the border. If staying in Khao Lak this means a trip to Phang Nga.

If you want another 60 days exempt entry via Ranong, rest assured that the IO’s there will not stamp you out if they are not willing to stamp you back in. They won’t let you be stuck in limbo between the two countries.

And the pier btw is clearly indicated on Google Maps:

Ask your local Thai immigration office for their requirements for the 30 day extension based on you having entered Thailand as Visa Exempt entry.

Use an experienced border run service company. There's a big difference between a DTV visa holder and those who entered Thailand as Visa Exempt entry.

if you have exempt entry 60 day you can get 30 day extension at any immigration office in Thailand. No the restriction is that you only can get that one time a year (?)

Some people have previously done border runs and go out and come back and get another exempt entry another 60 days but this is being frowned on and people are more and more refused entry at least for several of these.

that's totally up to the officer, and your Immigration history would also play a big role.
