TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain Thai citizenship as an American citizen with a Thai mother, start by checking with the Thai embassy for proper guidance. Key steps include ensuring you are registered in the family book in Thailand, obtaining a Thai birth certificate, and, if necessary, getting a Thai ID after arriving in Thailand. It's also important to gather relevant documents, such as your American birth certificate and your mother's Thai identification. Joining groups or forums with others who have undergone the process may provide additional insights and personal experiences.

thank you, I'm 42. I'm a US Army vet and wouldn't mind serving a few years.

Your mom (I think yourself, if over 18) can request a Thai birth certificate for you. I am getting my documents ready to do my adult kids’ Thai birth certificate. You will need a certified state birth certificate-get it apostille, then you will need your mom’s Thai ID, Thai house registration, marriage license, check with your nearest embassy or General Consulate.

If you're born out of Thailand youll need to ask your mum if she registered you at the thai embassy in the USA. If she did, you request you birth certificate for them and if you have never had a thai passport. They can issue you one. Then you have to come to thai to get a thai id. Once you get here you need to get a thai id to finalise your citizenship. Thats what I had to do about 7years ago, from Australia.

Email your local thai embassy, they should be able to help you

Your Thai embassy should have the information you need. They are the ones you need to check with because that's who will process the application.
