If you married in the UK, make sure you get your Marriage certificate legalised by the UK Legalisation office and then certified by the Thai Embassy in London, before you leave the UK.

Sounds frustrating and yes, anyone with a poor internet connection is likely to have problems. If you use the terminals at the airport it might be easier in that instance.

The TDAC takes a couple of minutes and can be done on arrival if necessary. It just replicates the old TM6 Arrival card. Hardly a chore!

If you can't go to Bangkok or Chiang Mai, your only option is to use an agent. See previous comments - there are many choices.

I would apply for a new passport 9 months before expiry. Allow 3-11 weeks.

Yes, you will need to go to Immigration to transfer your Extensions once you get the new passport.

Depends where you are. If applying for a visa (rather than an extension) it can be in your home bank. If applying for an extension of stay in Thailand, needs to be a Thai bank.
