How can I find a more affordable health insurance policy in Thailand for my family?

ORIGINAL POSTER
This falls under the category of more, Thailand health insurance.

So, Pacific Cross is my insurance that I use here in Thailand. Had them for two years now and my policy is coming up for renewal next month.

Even though I've never had a claim in two years since joining them, and I get the discount yearly for no claims, the policy just keeps going up every year and it boggles my mind.

And now PC wants me to submit some BS prostate test and cataract's test of which I'm totally healthy for both. I'm in super great shape, I don't drink or smoke, workout everyday.

I need to look for another insurance provider that comparable to PC

if anyone here knows how I can get a cheaper policy or is an insurance broker here are my stats without giving way too much intimate detail you can just DM me

Current: UK citizens (all of us)

Me: 57yrs old

My partner: 38yrs old

Two male children: 6yrs old, 13 years old

I don't need vision, or dental, or pregnancy. and I'm willing to pay a small deductible of 10,000 Baht.

I just want inpatient covered for everything catastrophic or the main stuff etc etc etc.

The only reason I got the darn insurance in the first place wasn't for me it was for my partner and my kids, just in case anything happened if it was just me, then I'd get a super small policy that's peanuts and be done with it.

Need some recommendations from brokers with the information I gave you, not willing to give anymore information, I would just like to get a basic quote and if I like it then we can dig into the specifics, but based on what I wrote I should be able to get a ball park quote without being bombared with phone calls or emails, lol

Thanks for your recommendations

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster seeks recommendations for affordable health insurance in Thailand after experiencing rising premiums with Pacific Cross. Despite being healthy and having no prior claims, they feel pressured by the provider's requirements for additional health tests and high annual increases. They are looking for a policy that covers inpatient care without extras like dental or vision and are open to consulting brokers for better options. Several community members respond with personal experiences, insights on premium trends with aging, and specific recommendations for alternative insurance providers.

Mine with cigna tripled after a birthday despite no claims. Yet some people still confuse guaranteed continuing cover with continuing reasonable premiums. Insurers price you out if they don't want older people.

I’ve read to many sad stories about Pacific Cross and many other insurance companies denying claims for trivial reasons… any decent insurance policy in Thailand is 100,000 bhat a year and up … below that you could be in trouble if you had a long stay for something serious in a Thai private hospital…putting aside 100,000 or whatever the amount each year could add up to a good amount over a few years .

So for some self insurance is the way to go ..

I just dont trust insurance companies .

Just saying !

Its best to compare across all available providers, they can do that. They also have a comparison page on their website. Easiest way to find what suits you.

You should thank them for covering you and happily pay.

Thai insurance companies can pick who they want to cover and they only pick healthy people.

You’re 57 health insurance will only ever go up especially if you have any chronic conditions

This is just the way health insurance works as you age it goes up and up and up because the risk of coverage increases every year you’re alive, hence why it’s near impossible to get a private insurance after the age of 66

…the only way to offset it is to have another policy via a pension etc that will cover any chronic conditions which you can omit from the Thai insurance policy

I have found through my own trial and errors is that all the companies are intermingled with each other so by omitting something from company A won’t insulate you from company B finding out

You could opt for huge premiums in the range of ฿60k-฿100k to offset the cost

Look into Allianz or NOW insurance (out of HK)

The only cheaper insurance for you is unfortunately your UHC in the UK

Good luck

I use Allianz global and no claims my first two years. Price keeps going up every year even if no claims and I have the 2025 usd deductible. My only chronic disease is hypothyroidism and I pay for my meds so that no issues from it.

WRLife premiums do not increase with age, if no claims are made.

Here’s what a bit of research can do for you…,

WR Life Health Insurance Research Notes

Identity and Location

• Full Legal Name: WRLIFE CLAIMS AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT LLP

• Company Type: Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)

• Incorporated On: 10 September 2015

• Registered Office Address (Base): 44 Broadway, Stratford, London, England, E15 1XH (UK)

• Status: Active

• Role in Thailand: Functions as an insurance broker/group, not a direct insurer. It uses Assist International Services (AIS) as a local contact point and claims management service in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ownership/Partners (Designated Members)

The company is an LLP, and the current active Designated Members are:

• Patrick Michel Lorentz: Country of Residence: Cambodia

• Ashish Sharma: Country of Residence: India

Note: Several Thai nationals, including those associated with Assist International Services, were previously LLP Members but have since resigned.

Business Model

• Model: Described as a “Participative International Medical Insurance” and “customer-owned, and ethical company.”

• Mechanism: Operates on a “participative community philosophy where members are co-owners with real shares.”

• Licensing: Holds one insurance license and one broker license (according to one source). Another source states it is a UK broker unlicensed in Thailand.

Negative Feedback and Claim Payout Concerns

• Allegations: Serious allegations exist, including that WRLife is “effectively a Ponzi scheme,” a “nothing shelf company in the UK with zero financial backing and no underwriter.”

• Claim Payouts:

◦ Positive Feedback: Some Trustpilot reviews praise quick claim processing and good service.

◦ Negative Feedback: Other reviews and forum discussions (e.g., AseanNow, Facebook groups) report “excuses for not paying claims in full,” “lack of communication,” and general warnings against the company.

◦ Regulatory Concern: The fact that it is a UK-registered LLP and a broker (not an insurer) in Thailand, with payments sometimes directed to a local service provider (AIS), raises questions about its regulatory oversight and financial backing for large claims.

◦ Financial Stability: The “participative” model and the lack of a clear, major underwriter are the core of the financial stability and claim payout concerns. The model is questioned as to what happens when a large number of claims are made.

Have you ever claimed? You only find out how good a company is when it’s time to claim. Good luck, think you’ll need it.

I'm about the same age and situation as you and yes it is ridiculous as my premiums have tripled in just 3 years. I have been using Luma and will now switch to an annual deductible plan which is actually cheaper overall to a non deductible. But if these 20-30% annual increases continue I may just self insure.
Deslea ********
Your premium will continue to go up as you age, and it will accelerate into your sixties and beyond. You should talk to a broker to get the best deal you can, but be aware that often your existing cover will be best because depending on the fine print of your policy, they may be stuck with any recent conditions whereas these will be excluded pre existing for new policies.
