Has anyone from the UK successfully applied for a Special Tourist Visa (STV) to Thailand?

I and my 2 friends approached THAILAND LONG STAY CO about the STV whom wanted copies of our passports and then later said they were still waiting for the UK to come onto the list of allowed countries and that was over a month ago, heard nothing since & THAI embassy phones are a waste of time, so BOOM not getting in yet.
