TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the challenges faced by UK residents trying to apply for a Special Tourist Visa (STV) to Thailand, particularly amidst current travel restrictions due to COVID-19. Participants note the Thai embassy in London is unresponsive and clarify that UK citizens are not currently eligible for the STV, which is only extended to 'low risk' countries. Suggestions on contacting the embassy via Facebook Messenger and recent trends in the UK's COVID-19 situation are also shared.
Well it does actually for STV. Work Permit no. Can get in from anywhere

I can get in now on an OA visa from U.K. but at the moment it’s just not worth all the cost and aggro..looks like the 1st winter at home for a few years..hopefully next winter it will be a bit easier
I want to go back to see family but it is the 2 weeks ASQ I do not fancy. I know a few who have done it recently and it is as boring as hell.

I and my 2 friends approached THAILAND LONG STAY CO about the STV whom wanted copies of our passports and then later said they were still waiting for the UK to come onto the list of allowed countries and that was over a month ago, heard nothing since & THAI embassy phones are a waste of time, so BOOM not getting in yet.

There’s only 30 countries on the list of allowed low risk countries, which they said will be updated twice a month. If your country is having an infection spike don’t expect to get in for tourism
. Sad to say, myself originally being of UK stock, I believe it's more to do with attitude than quarantine. The world has seen via the internet the way a minority of British people have behaved during the restrictions in the UK. The Thais are overly paranoid about covid, and last thing they want here is a bunch of Karens (male and female) in supermarkets screeching "human rights abuse" because they have to wear a piece of light cloth across their mouths!
. And they don't realise the international damage they are doing to their own country. I'm not totally convinced masks are the saviour of the planet, but I really cannot go into emotional meltdown if I'm expected to wear one for the 20 mins or so I'm in the supermarket, or the 20 mins on the BTS or on the bus. It's a mild inconvenience, I cannot relate it to a "human rights violation".
. My point exactly. It's starts at the top and filters down. You don't have to be real smart either to work out why the USA won't be on the list any time soon!
even the president in America, self proclaimed expert doctor and scientist tells the people a mask is a waste of time. Youd think if they just looked at asia and used their common sense they would realise what a big difference it makes
I think that’s the whole definition of a narcissist, he thinks he’s perfect So he doesn’t have to ask anybody for suggestions, because to do so would indicate that he didn’t have the answer.
