If your Drivers License is in English it is fairly easy. You will need

Drivers License from your country

Passport

Certificate of Residency

Medical Certificate

Photos you will need for Residency Certificate

Photo copies of all

Then go to Land and Transfer office and watch a one hour video and three test. Reaction Time, eye test and one more. Pay your money and wait for license to be printed

If you don’t mind spending the extra money, up to 30,000 THB then you should come in on a Tourist Visa and go to a Visa Agent. It will all be arranged for you. And yes their will be people that will reply to this post and say do it yourself for 1900 THB. The more you pay the easier it gets. After the first retirement visas for my wife and I we do it ourselves.

Why would you want to do this? Certainly it won’t satisfy immigration financial requirements for retirement visa. The Thai person can use your bank card if you give her your pin. That is the safest way.

I agree with Robert. Bangkok Bank seems to be more flexible. Take with you proof of your residency and maybe you get lucky. Otherwise enter on a tourist visa and apply for a retirement visa. If so they issue for 3 months and you can then open a bank account and have the necessary funds for 2 months prior. Other options are costly but no hassle

Go to Immigration and fill in form Application form for Residency Certificate for Thailand You will need to provide passport, Visa, Entry Stamp, proof of where you live in Thailand. If certificate is for license you will need 3 photos. Also you have to go to a doctor and get a medical done. (200BHT)

Have photocopies of all documents and sign each copy.

Cost is 300 BHT. Bring your drivers license from your country. English is OK. If not in English you need to have your license translated by an approved company from your embassy in Thailand. Then you need to send your translated licence to the embassy for approval. They will stamp the translation and you take this to get your license.

Get to the Land an Transfer Office early. Take a number from the machine by entrance and wait for your number to be called then you go upstairs. If all your documents are OK you will get a number and normally you have to watch a video and do a few practical tests. (eye test reaction test ). Then wait after you pay fee. If you are really lucky you could be out before break for lunch. Not likely

My understanding that you have 10 to 14 days to leave the country after your work permit expires or no longer valid
