Go to Immigration and fill in form Application form for Residency Certificate for Thailand You will need to provide passport, Visa, Entry Stamp, proof of where you live in Thailand. If certificate is for license you will need 3 photos. Also you have to go to a doctor and get a medical done. (200BHT)

Have photocopies of all documents and sign each copy.

Cost is 300 BHT. Bring your drivers license from your country. English is OK. If not in English you need to have your license translated by an approved company from your embassy in Thailand. Then you need to send your translated licence to the embassy for approval. They will stamp the translation and you take this to get your license.

Get to the Land an Transfer Office early. Take a number from the machine by entrance and wait for your number to be called then you go upstairs. If all your documents are OK you will get a number and normally you have to watch a video and do a few practical tests. (eye test reaction test ). Then wait after you pay fee. If you are really lucky you could be out before break for lunch. Not likely

My understanding that you have 10 to 14 days to leave the country after your work permit expires or no longer valid

David Broadfoot my original post said for 30 days. See what happens if your certificate is over 30 days. For me it is not worth going back and forth with you. Ask immigration yourself.

David Broadfoot Just google Certificate of Residency Thailand. Go down the page and you will see what other people have asked for There you will see how long it is valid

David Broadfoot That is exactly what I thought. But if you google Certificate of Residency on the Immigration site it says 12 months.

@Vit ********
I am not sure how I thought is was one month. On the Immigration website it says it is valid for 12 months. It may have been the agency that is requiring it wants it issued within the last 30 days.

In Pattaya if you arrive in the morning you can pick it up after 14:00 same day. Residency Certificate is only valid for 30 days

why buy a multiple entry for 4,000 BHT when you only enter twice a year. No we’re did I say it was hard at the airport. But when you pass by immigration once a week it is easy to get.

@Gary ******
you do not renew your passport. Just before your expiry date you need to apply for a brand new passport which has a new number. No passport is identified as renewed. In fact when you pick up your new passport your old passport is stamped canceled

I never said it was not easy to get at the airport. If you are late checking in for a flight and not enough time to go to Immigration at the airport or passenger numbers go back to normal you may not have enough time. Personally to go to Immigration in Pattaya a week in advance just clears one item that I do not have to do at the airport. This is just good planning.
