Hi- sorry this has definitely already been posted before by someone else. Both me and my partner are looking to apply for DTV, the only issue we’re coming across is the 500,000 finance requirement. We’re able to obtain this but to both hold it in our account for 3 months each is looking like a stretch.

Does a joint bank account work? If it’s held in both our names? I’ve also seen you can get sponsorship but also seen a lot of places prefer not to.

Hi,

My wife and I have a non o visa extension based on over 50 and retired, we each have a bank account with Bangkok Bank and each with a minimum of 800,000 Baht in,

I asked the question at Lamphun immigration today, that because of my concern in case anything happens to either of us would it be possible have the combined funds in one account in both names, the answer was yes as long as the two accounts were transferred into the joint account on the same day,

the answer was verbal so nothing in writing,

My question is has anyone else done this and can confirm it is correct?

TIA Paul.

I have funds in a joint bank account that will cover my income requirement for the DTV. Will that be an issue, or does the account have to be just in my name?

Question about financial requirements for non o guardianship logistics

Planning on non o guardianship visa for my wife and I, matched with student visas for our 2 kids. For the finances, do my wife and I need separate bank accounts or can we do a single joint account?

My husband and I are Canadian citizens and want to apply for the DTV visa for Thailand (applying in Canada).

We only have one personal bank account which us joint between the two of us.

Are we both able to use this same bank account to show the proof of funds (THB 500,000) as per the application requirements? Will we need to then have THB 1 million?

Would a cashable GIC be accepted as proof of financial standing?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Just got my DTV approved. Despite what I imagine was a somewhat unusual situation (applying from Brazil as a US citizen with a Hong Kong permanent address and a Hong Kong joint bank account listing my partner's name alongside mine), I was approved without a request for additional documents. I applied via the soft power route and was approved in 8 working days.

I have no idea whether any of this helped, but here's what I did beyond the minimum requirements to strengthen my application:

* I signed up for a 9-month course with Fitfac Muaythai in Bangkok. They're not the cheapest, but they were very responsive (even over the weekend) and I suspect having the documentation indicate a 9-month course would add credibility and make it easier to extend the DTV in 6 months.

* I applied using bank statements from a joint account that had over twice the minimum balance (i.e. one million THB). I figured if there were any questions about using a joint account, I would be able to argue that I was legally entitled to the minimum funds required for the DTV, even if half of my bank balance were considered to belong to my partner.

* I detailed my recent visa and travel history to Thailand (dates, ports of entry, visa number and work permit number, etc). The purpose of this was to build trust by demonstrating that I've always played by the rules during my time in Thailand.

* I wrote a detailed cover letter explaining all of the above, why I was applying from Brazil, and my interest in the DTV. I tried to anticipate and address any questions. I attached the letter to the course registration documents provided by Fitfac.

* I dressed professionally for the photo and used formal language and formatting in the cover letter. The goal here was to make myself look as bland and predictable as possible.

Hope this helps. Good luck to all who are applying!
