I have a question: I heard that after received a year visa the amount of 800.000 must be kept 3 months. Is that a law ? I didn't see on Google. Now if I have embassy document with my retirement amount, I can use only the difference on a bank account. (Retirement 600000 + bank deposit 200000) So what about the amount that should be kept 3 months ?
I have a question that I don’t see mentioned here. For U.S. Expats who have a bank account count in Thailand where they deposit their 800,000 baht requirement to satisfy their year extension. Do they complete the FBAR each year? I think it is called FinCen form 14.
If I currently have an initial 90 day Non-O retirement visa and open a bank account to transfer the 800,000 baht…if for some reason I am unable to complete the one year extension. Will the bank account be closed?
I am planing to get a 90 day non o visa in Australia ,come to Thailand open a bank account, put 800000 baht in account and apply for 12 month extenion based on retirement. I have been coming to thailand regulary over last 2 years on tourist visas for 55 days at a time 2025 3 x .With crackdown on people staying over 150 days i thought its time to get a long term visa
My problem is I dont want to spend 90 days in Thailand to setup the non o visa as getting doctument together to open bank account together then transfering money
Waiting 2 months after money arrives to get extension if I hit some snag along the way will take almost the full 90 days
Any suggestion how i could achive a 12 month extension in less time
Ideally i would like to arrive get a lease on on an apartment open a bank account transfer money return to Australia for a month then return on a new 90 non O and
Extened for 12 months as my 800,000 would had been in bank for 2 months.
So I think I finally worked retirement date 2/7/27, the day I turn 60! Our plan is to move to Thsiland 2/9/27. My husband took a lump sum as a retirement in 2023, so he won’t have a monthly income, but I will. Yes we can satisfy 800,000, although I don’t like the fact that we can’t use our money.
Question: will my husband’s 800,000 baht be enough to meet requirements or does he have to show a monthly income? My retirement will be enough for the both of us…planning ahead
If I transfer money from my uk bank account to my wise account and change the pound sterling to Thai bahts within my wise account, once in Thailand I intend to transfer the 800,000 bahts from my wise account into my new Thai bank account, would that satisfy the rule which says your money should have come from outside Thailand?
Retairement Visa: do you have to keep all the time the 800.000 bath , then 400.000 or can you withdrawl everything and deposit 800.000 the 3 month before the renewal?
Morning all, once I’ve deposited my 800,000 does that balance have to stay at that amount or is that for my living expenses? Also I am worried upon my passing that my daughter in Australia would not be able to inherit the balance, thank you so much in advance.
When opening a Thai bank on a non o visa in readiness for the 1 year retirement visa can you deposit more than the required 800 K baht ? If so , can I take out money for day to day living expenses but still have the 800 K in the bank and not be penalised by immigration when the time comes for the yearly application extension. Thankyou
