How much does a 30 day visa extension cost via agent? Iā€™ve been quoted 4500 and 5000. Seems very high. 60 day tourist visa was only $40 US.

Please be gentle, my head is banging šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Yes, I am sure we have asked for suggestions in the past and yes I am sure you have offered meaningful guidance

Weā€™ve looked and read as much as we possibly can from numerous sources to the point we have now totally confused ourselves

How the heck does one chose the best visa to retire to Thailand for the long term?

Seriously the more we research the more confused we seem to get, yes, Iā€™m sure we are and have over complicated it but weā€™ve overcomplicated it to the point we now feel totally bewildered

Weā€™ve read numerous accounts that itā€™s best to get the relevant visa in our home country (UK) before landing in Thailand

Weā€™ve then read itā€™s easier to arrive as a tourist and then sort the appropriate visa once in Thailand which totally contradicts the above

Seriously can someone on here please, in clear/ simple/ uncomplicated terms help us by directing us to a suitable visa with the below possibly helping

Me and my wife are thinking it will be best if we both get our own visa so if/ when something should happen to one of us, there should be no issues with the surviving persons visa

Having and leaving 800,000 Thb in a Thai bank account each is ok

Within the next month we will be upgrading our UK driving licences to International Driving Permit so we can then convert to a Thai Driving Licence once we are settled

Thai Elite Visa is an option (but numerous people have said no need as we are over 55 with a private pension as income so there are better alternatives)

As little hassle/ agro/ bureaucracy as possible, happy for an agent to take care of our 90 day reporting

Thank you

Hi all, my head is swimmimg. Iā€™m considering flying to Chiang Mai next month from Saigon where Iā€™ve been working. Iā€™m a citizen of USA, 64 years old, single. Monthly pension of approx 178,000 THB.

I did not start this process in USA, is it feasible to expect that I can start and finish a long term visa while in Thailand? Specifically while there on the 45 day tourist visa with 2 30 day extensions?

Really conflicted at this point because Mexico is an option with much simpler visa process.

All advice greatly valued and appreciated!

Thank you.

I just did a border bounce at Satun border South Thailand coming off the last Covid Extension in my passport. Used an agent and had no problems at all. Was getting asked a few questions until the officer spoke with my agent after which i was sent on my way. Whole process took 10/15 mins. Currently on the 7hr bus ride back to Phuket now

Which country close to Thailand is issuing the Thai tourist visas? Mine is expired and I'd like to take a trip for a couple weeks and get a new one. I looked at Ho Chi Minh. Vietnam but they said they're not issuing them to foreigners. Not sure why, I used to get one there often.

[Covid extension question] I just was granted a visa extension for covid reason but they only gave me 30 days (I was told we could apply for 60 days so thatā€™s what I wrote on the form)ā€¦

So my question is, can I apply again for another 30 days?

Should Iā€™ve done or provided something else in order to get a longer extension?

I know covid extensions are up on May 24 but I will need to extend on May 19, so Iā€™m hoping I can do that one last time before a visa run is required.

FYI: I entered with a 30-day visa exemption, then extended for 30 days. Then extended for covid reason, for another 30 days.

TIA

Hello. Next year I'll try to apply for a residence permit.

Assuming that I fulfill all the requirements, is it easy to get it approved?

Is there anyone who has gone through the process and has recommendations?

My biggest concern is the thai language test...
