No1 document - Insurance

A lot of Brits 'risk' their insurance as 'It'll never happen to me' attitude

I would have had to sell everything I'd worked for without insurance as my hospital care and repatriation was way over £120,000

Pay the premium and have peace of mind

I pay 10baht a month with BKB and receive update texts within a minute of any transaction, but I set this up in Thailand, I've no idea if its possible to set up over internet

Maybe a job to do when/if you manage to get back, - fingers crossed 🤞

I used to use Bangkok Bank. Lloyd's bank to Bangkok Bank in London, no charge. Bangkok Bank London to Bangkok Bank Pattaya £20, then a final 200 baht for Bangkok Bank Pattaya for receiving.

I now use Western Union - direct into my Kasikorn Bank £1.90 total, for up to £2000

You can jointly own a condo

This has been a 'scam' for as long as I can remember

My advice - Get your name on the deeds

Thais have been known to - want you out, for whatever reason and there's nothing you can do about it if your name is not on the deeds - Good Luck

If you stay in hotels, it's up to the hotel to carry out this chore and produce the necessary to immigration

I have holidayed in Thailand for twelve years, the last five years have been for nine months of the year

The people are so friendly and welcoming.

The last few years I have seen the smiles diminishing as the strong Baht has kept thousands of tourists from making the journey.

Also the country has been run by the military, this was put in place by their late king whom the people worshiped.

The appointed new king, who took over when his father died in 2016, spends so much time out of the country, the people are naturally annoyed at him trying to rule Thailand whilst living in Germany, this has added fuel to the present unrest in Bangkok.

My Thai partner who lives in Thailand has told me that suicides are at an all time high, mainly males who are unable to find any work to support their families

Tourism is the main industry in Thailand

Tourism creates so many jobs for these poor people who rely on the industry

Until the King accepts his responsibility for the running of the country I'm afraid Thailands tourism will be carry on going down.

When I first went there 12 years ago the Baht was 68 for £1, now you're lucky if it reaches 40 to £1

The corrupt police force is another factor in the downturn of tourism

Personally I adore Thailand, but even a blind man on a galloping horse can see the days are numbered for Thailand to get anywhere near to thriving country I experienced just over a decade ago

I still hope to get out there in the very near future, but I'm also glad to know I have my home in the UK, just in case

Thailand is a wonderful place to live, spoilt only by corruption

After the death of the beloved King in 2016 the country has gone downhill fast, mainly due to their new King, who stays the majority of the time in Germany

Start at the top and work down is the answer to getting the country back to an economic future, until this happens the suicides in Thailand will continue to rise, as without tourism the poor people of Thailand, have little to no chance of making ends meet
