The Bangkok Post article makes it very clear. We have until September 26 to get a new visa of some kind or we have to leave, if not we will be considered on overstay. It seems that the blacklist comes in immediately if we stay past then. Of course, we will know more next week after the cabinet meeting and see what is in the Royal Gazette.
but it says this "Foreign visitors can now enter the country if they agree to pay S$684 for half of the cost of their accommodation in hotels, where they will be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival. "
Apparently they don't care about that. I think this may be the wet dream of the xenophobes who are currently in charge and who have made everything so difficult for foreigners in Thailand that many have left permanently. Until they are gone, they will make things more and more difficult for people to spend time here. I would have been out permanently March 29, but Taiwan closed March 18 and I couldn't make it there when I found out the news at noon. An absolute nightmare.
This whole thing is absurd. The early mathematical models were wildly wrong. Lockdown was only supposed to flatten the curve to stop hospitals from being overwhelmed and give governments time to develop a strategy for mitigating deaths.Shutting down the world and causing a depression until a vaccine which may never be possible for a disease which many now say has an ifr of .4. and at worst 1% makes no sense. Now the strategy is to eliminate it from every country before trying to open when it will be an endemic disease. Completely stupid.
