Got it thanks. If you happen to hear anything else on this issue, would you mind posting here. I’ll do the same.

I entered on a visa exemption initially, but then switched this (from within Thailand for a fee) to an ED. After my ED ended, I canceled it and applied for COVID extensions.

In my case, so you believe my current COVID extensions are from my ED visa, or the visa exemption on which I initially entered the country?

Thank you.

I would have normally never chosen to live in Thailand, but I’ve been here since the beginning of the pandemic and it’s been great. The Sandbox would allow you to get here and still enjoy it for awhile without mass tourism, so l would definitely recommend that option.

and getting so upset over miscommunication in English with a Thai person in Thailand and having it work out in one’s favour.

Yeah, thanks. Will definitely have a plan B. Can I ask a follow-up question about this procedure?

I get a letter from my school sometime before Sep 16, then go to immigration sometime before or on Sep 16. I ask to cancel my ED and apply for this COVID extension (assuming they renew it past July 29). Then they either give me 60 days or give me 7 days, past a) Sept 16 or b) the date i go into immigration?

Does this all sound correct? Thanks again.

Thanks. But getting 60 days from July 29 isn’t a lot better than my current 16 Sept expiry date.

Vaccination isn’t currently a requirement for entry to the kingdom

On the same topic—

I arrived on Jan 27, 2020 (on visa exemption, extension, then amnesty) and then converted to ED late Sep. 2020. Initially received a late Dec. stamp and currently have a Mar. 20. stamp.

Given that they’ve already extended me beyond a year from initial arrival, does it seem that I’ve avoided the above issue and that they’re likely to continue to give me 90 day extensions on ED status? I am in Chiang Mai. Thanks.
