Will my DTV be nullified if I enter Thailand after the 90-day period?

I was issued a DTV on the 13th of May with the intention of entering Thailand (and starting the Muay Thai course for which it is intended) in late June.

However, due to family concerns, my plans have changed and I may not be able to enter Thailand until late August. Even though the visa doesn’t explicitly say so, I’m worried that this may cause it to be nullified as it is more than 90 days from the date of issue.

Should I be worried about this? Many thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned that their DTV visa, issued on May 13, may be nullified if they enter Thailand beyond the 90 days from the date of issue. Comments from community members indicate that the DTV is a five-year multiple entry visa, and while experiences vary, many believe entering anytime within that period should be acceptable. Some suggest confirming details with the issuing consulate, as different authorities may have different nuances regarding visa activation and usage.

It's fine. Come whenever in the 5 years

It’s a five year multiple entry visa. You’re fine.

I was told by the Thai General Consulate in New York that if you are approved and don't use it in a 3 month period that it cancels itself out.. But like others have mentioned it could vary from place to place.. I would check with the place where I applied for the DTV and hear what they have to say..

No one can answer this question and be absolutely sure. I had the same issue and I got different answers from immigration officers. Some said I could emerge anytime within the five year period . Others recommended I come in and activate first at least once before not returning for a while .

thanks, it seems like a grey area. I’m currently in Asia, so I’ll probably spring for a flight into Thailand before heading home for the summer to be safe.

there's zero gray area. The visa has an expiration date. It's black and white. You can enter an unlimited number of times before that date.

this theory seems to contradict other accounts, deeming it necessarily “gray”.

I don't care what other people tell you. It's not grey. This is how visas work. Embassies will not issue visas if you tell them your travel is not within 90 days. But once the visa is issued, it is valid until expiration date. Period. End of story. There is no system or mechanism to cancel a visa after that.

Do not worry. You are fine entering later.
