Has anyone been able to contact the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok to ask for a letter to provide with Thai immigration to extend stay? Does anyone know when Canada will be closing its borders? I have been trying to get a hold of them by email (what they recommend on the answering service) since Friday to no avail. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat is seeking guidance on contacting the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok for a letter to provide Thai immigration in order to extend their stay. They have faced difficulties in reaching the embassy via email and inquired about border closures. Comments reveal that the embassy does not issue stay extension letters but provides an affidavit letter if applied for in person. There are also encouragements to register for their stay in Thailand.

their response to me last week: Thank you for contacting the Embassy of Canada.

Issuing a letter to allow you to stay in the country is not one of the services we provide. What we can provide is an affidavit letter where you need to apply for it in person at the Embassy in Bangkok. It is free of charge. You will need to bring your passport with you when you come to apply. The Embassy can not guarantee if the letter will be accepted. It is up to the Thai Immigration whether they will consider accepting the issued letter or not.

We encourage you to register your stay in Thailand. Please find info. in the following link,
