Will I be fined for overstaying if my visa extension application is submitted after the expiration due to weekend closure?

Hi all, quick procedural question— my extension expires on Saturday (28 Mar.). As this is a weekend, if I were to go into Thai immigration for a further extension on Monday (30 Mar.)—either 7 day or 30 day with a letter— would I be charged two days overstay in addition to extension fees, or would they grant an exception because they’re closed on weekends? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is asking about the implications of submitting a visa extension application after the expiration date if it falls on a weekend. Comments clarify that if the visa expires on a weekend and the application is submitted the next working day, there should be no fine for overstaying, although an overstay stamp will be placed in the passport. Additionally, there are discussions regarding the possibility of receiving a default 7-day extension if a 30-day extension request is denied.

sorry to hijack your post but it is within the same context.

My visa exoires 12th April. If I am rejected as it's my 2nd extension will they add the 7days on to the end of my visa?

I ask because etihad have cancelled flights but I can rebook just outside of my expiration date.

Sorry all, could I ask a follow-up question?

If I go to apply for a 30-day extension (suppose I have a letter, but it's generic and it's unlikely that they'll accept it, but I choose to apply anyway) and I'm rejected, do they give me a 7-day extension by default?

Yes they will give 7 days, generic letter wont do.

IF your stamp expires on a day the immigration office is closed (weekends or holidays) and you go the very NEXT day they're open you are NO fined for overstay and can get your extension like normal BUT you will get an overstay stamp in your passport (that says overstay xx days fine waived due to closure) AND your extension will start from the day you previous stamp expires.

Just curious WHY you would screw around like that during these times?

Because I’m hoping to get a letter that will grant me 30 days instead of 7. That’s more likely as time passes. Thank you for your response.
