the 90 days is given so that you can get the required funds into a thai bank because it is then easier to get a thai bank account.

that is correct but it has to show as a transfer from outside of Thailand. That is what can be difficult. Money transfers often go to a Thai bank first and then on to yours which does not qualify.

for the non o 90 days you can show funds in home country account. For the 12 month extension you have to show them in Thai account.

I'm afraid you are wrong. First time application gives 3 months to get the required cash into bank account for two months before getting 12 month extension. 0 baht for retirement and 0 for marriage. On renewal the must have been left there for three months and not go below 0 during the year. It must be topped up to 0 st least 2 months prior to renewal.

And you need a letter from the bank certifying it has been there for the required length of time. Did mine on Wednesday it cost 100 baht. If you need to update book on day top up phone with 100 baht first.

DL is more useful than your passport. I was even told I would be able to fly domestic using it as ID. It was also very useful to have in order to get vaccinations. Showed passport No. Showed DL yes.

No need for work permit but you must show proof of residence eg. Lease agreement.

If you take copies of everything you have they will want another one of something.

I went across the road to a hotel and they were very happy to do my copying for free. And no I didn't que up again.
