Just finished getting a 30 day visa extension in phuket, thought we had everthing in order , the worker said we needed a photo copy 9f the stamped entry page on our passport ,not a copy of the main page with out picture charged us 100 baht per copy. I was told later we were way overcharged for the photocopy charge, and that it wasnt required ? Hard to find many answers

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their recent experience obtaining a 30-day visa extension in Phuket, where they were unexpectedly charged 100 baht for photocopies of their passport's stamped entry page. Many comments provided varying insights on the photocopy requirements stating that a photocopy of the entry stamp is typically required, along with the main page, but charges vary significantly. Most respondents noted that photocopy services outside immigration offices typically charge 1-5 baht per page, indicating that charges at the immigration office are notably higher for convenience. There are suggestions that recent rule changes may allow for free copies or official requirements could vary, causing confusion among expats.

They always need more copies but if they charged you 5baht per copy you would be overcharged.100 is a joke. I made about 7 copies at immigration for 23 baht

If you take copies of everything you have they will want another one of something.

I went across the road to a hotel and they were very happy to do my copying for free. And no I didn't que up again.

A copy of your entry stamp is usually required. 20bt per copy is the going rate, however 100bt isnt the end of the world.

In Phuket town there’s a copy shop at the back of the car park. 2 baht per page.

In Patong there used to be a place next door. No idea if it still exists as I haven’t been there in years.

In Blue Tree the management office on floor 2 will do the copies. I don’t know what/if they charge.

I take my printer with me and a voltage converter in the car better to be safe than sorry .

When I renew my Retirement visa, I do all the required photocopying (3 pages) at Immigration. Total cost - 6 baht.

Can get copies and photos made at shop on grounds of phuket immigration for about 2 baht/copy.

Sounds like you paid a convenience fee for having it done inside the immigration office without losing your place in line and going to the inexpensive copy shop outside.

Should take all the photo copied pages with you having have them copied elsewhere, likewise fill the application in at home before going. I think some immigration people get a bit hacked off waiting for farang to fill out forms and get photo copies there, holding other people up.

Can find out the requirements here:

I went in to the Patong office and did this. 300bht for passport photo and all the photocopies- it saved me running around town, thought it was decent price.

totally not my point....

@Mark *******
but I think that IS the point. Like look. I am going to spend every penny I’ve earned in Thailand. But one- I like to understand what is going on around me and if something is weird I like to figure it out JUST to know and this group is part of the toolset for doing that. And two- I would rather give that money to people who are dealing straight with me and trying to create value in the world. I am happy- eager even- to be generous and it is a silver lining to the world that this is an option. But again that money should go to nice smiles and good attitudes not the people who are just trying to get away with some shit for whatever reason.

So when people post questions like this they don’t need to get shit on because it’s only 3 dollars or they are cheap or because the Thai person needed the money more than they did.

and how much is YOUR time and our time worth ?

I thought I read recently that they just change the rules and they had to do the copies at immigration for free now. Didn’t they used to just refuse to do them? Or is the rule that now they have to and they are enthusiastically monetizing the situation?
Wilmont ******
@Jack ***************
Yes it’s free you just have to donate 100 baht

It's thailand tea money pay smile.

I usually pay less than 5bt a copy.

Yes you need the main page and stamp page. Guess you could have left and found a low cost place to copy but for the convenience 100 baht isn't a lot of money.
Jonas *************
Well. You didn't have the required copy, now you didn't have to go back in line.... Win!
Klaus *********
You always need a copy of the entrance stamp when applying for any extension.

Copy shops charge 1-2 THB per copy but if you decide to get your copies at the immigration office you unfortunately have to accept their extremely inflated charges.
Ricky ******
@Klaus ********
Paying for their time, not the copy.
Monti ********
Most offices you need both pages. The page with your picture and the current entry stamp or extension.
Michael ********
Photocopy of entry stamp is required
Michael ********
Should be 1 or 2 baht a page. Was that main immigration in Phuket town (saphan hin). There is a place downstairs that does it for 2 baht a page i think
