I plan to do it up front. Put the money in myself. I'm not going to cut corners, and the agency I use has me do the legwork, they assist with all the documents. With everything above board, I don't see a problem.

according to Schwab, all it does is restrict what you can invest in. Seeing as I'm just using their checking account merely collecting interest in my tiny investment account, it shouldn't be an issue.

I was just looking at the Assist Thai Visa site, and it seems they go with you to immigration to get the visa, so they seem legit so far.

just looking at Assist Thai Visa, and it seems they take you to immigration to get the visa, so that seems like a good thing.

actually they have 2.1k followers and are the most referred to in Chiang Mai. That said, I will contact TVC to see if they will assist me even though I won't be in Bangcock.

I've been considering that, however all the plans you can buy in the States are around 4 to 600 bucks a month, which will blow my budget. I know plans bought in Thailand are cheaper, so that's another thing I'll check into while I'm there in October. I've heard 1500 a year (dollars) can get me something decent.

TVC is in Bangkok. How would that work with me in Chiang Mai? Thay said, how much would a lawyer cost?

thanks. I am visiting Chiang Mai in October and I'll make an appointment to see them. Planning on moving May of next year (I retire in March).
