I live in a not so good area of Long Beach, Ca. right now. Have for 30 years. I've lived in Chicago in the 80s. Been all over the world. Never had the need for a firearm. If you have needed to pull a firearm twice, man, I hope you intend to move from wherever it is you live! It's dangerous there!

okay, let's talk about how gun deaths are now the number one cause of death for children in the US, surpassing automobile deaths last year.

and 21,000 murders by firearm in a single year is hardly "a few".

only a problem if you settle in the south where it's going on. No insurgency where any expat actually lives.

not even close to as many. And they don't shoot up schools, stores, malls, churches, parades, etc. on a regular basis.

I live in the US, where every crazy person has multiple firearms, and people wonder how I'll feel safe in Thailand. Think about that. Take as long as you need.

the OX requires either 3 million baht deposited into a Thai bank or a deposit of 1.8 million with an income of 1.2 million per year with the requirement that the deposit be 3 million within a year. Plus the deposit can't be brought down to less than 1.5 million and that must be spent inside Thailand. How did you get around that?
Brian ********
@Wayne ********
not putting 3 million or even 1.8 million into a Thai bank and tying it up.

either way I'm probably going to use an agent. Bureaucracy drives me nuts.

actually, within the 5 years I can find 400,000 and be good for 20 years. Otherwise, if I don't want to, I can convert to a retirement visa. I"m still undecided on whether to go retirement or elite, but I have 8 months to figure it out. Right now I'm leaning towards elite, but that could change.
