True. Also,many of us in professions and self employed our entire lives never consider ourselves retired. It's all about dealing with bureaucracy. Fill out a form and make them happy.

I asked what was required when in Chicago last year. They stated either :

1. A letter from an employer stating that I retired.

2. A letter from me stating that I retired.

Both to be notarized.

They're helpful and easy to work with.

Robert Lagas One can apply for a sixty day extension as you commented or a one year extension as I added or did I miss something ?

A one year extension can also be obtained if ones Non Immigrant O visa is based on having a Thai spouse in the Kingdom.

Michael,I haven't had one in many years either that mentioned it was issued based on having a Thai spouse living in the Kingdom. Just says Non Immigrant O.

In the 1990's I did 12 to 13 a year for nearly ten years and was never questioned in Thailand. Returning to the USA it seemed as if I was on the suspected criminal list with frequent interrogations regarding travels.

Meaning that I can avoid my regular upcoming 90 day border run by filing for a 60 day extension of stay now ? Will the extension of stay be 60 days from when I apply for it or 60 days from the date of stay currently in my passport. Visa expires in September. Thank you kindly Tod.

If you're financially independent the elite visa is best for you. It's only Baht 500 k for a five year multi entry visa which is a good deal. That's less then €3k a year !
