Hi group, recently I got my multiple entry Non "O" visa based on marriage in Savannhket. When I entered Thailand the Immigration Officer stamped me in for 90 days. Is this correct? If correct what must I do when that 90 days is up? Go to immigration/ border run?? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon entering Thailand with a multiple-entry Non-O visa based on marriage, you receive a 90-day stamp. To extend your stay beyond these 90 days, you have a few options: 1) Perform a 'border run' by exit and re-entry that will grant you another 90 days, or 2) apply for a 60-day extension of stay from immigration. After the first 90 days, it's important to either leave the country and come back to reset your stay or approach the local immigration office for the extension.

Where did you get your Non-O visa from? Your country? Or from Thailand?

The first time, they issue visa for 3 months. And then you will have to renew your visa again upto 1 year duration from immigration office. When they renew it after 3 months, they usually renew upto 1 year. In that case, you will not have to go out and get stamped once you receive the 1 year non-O visa (single entry or multiple entries).

Example:

Suppose u got ur first Non-O marriage visa on 1-May-2018. You must renew it again before 1-Aug-2018.

Suppose, when u renew it on 30-July-2018, then your visa expiry date will be 1 year after that date on 28-July-2019.

In my case, that happened.

aha...

I never knew about multiple entry thing as yet. Thanks for the info.

You mixing things up and make it hard to understand. First of all you can not renew a visa, you get the visa sticker once and when used it is a memory in your passport. If you have the Single Entry Non O visa you can enter once and get 90 days, before the last date you apply for an 1 year Extension of Stay at Immigration. If you have the Multiple Entry Non O Visa, this visa is valid for 1 year, you make every 90 days a border run to activate a new 90 day stay, till the valid until/enter before date of the visa. You can apply after each entry for the 1 year Extension of Stay at Immigration.

So as i understand it with the 60 day extension after the 15 months means you get 17 months out of a 12 month visa.

You can also get a 60 day extension of stay from immigration but only one time for each entry into the country.

After 90 days you go do border bounce in and out then get another 90 days

That visa is a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa. The way it works is you get stamped in for 90 days each entry. When the 90 days is running out you go to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country and stamp right back into thailand to get another 90 day stamp. You do this for the entire validity of the visa itself (a year from the date it was issued)

@St***
thanks for that bit of info. I do disagree with the UK bit though. Worked there for 2-years application was very clear and straight forward. Although the entry requirements are very steep yes.

I guess you're here based on your wifes origional non imm B visa and her extention of stay. You're 'piggy-backed onto her stay based on dependency. Totally different scenario from the OPs multi entry non imm O visa. Oh and by the way the UK visa process is just as complicated and a lot tougher!
Tim *********
The Visa officer at my wifes school did all the paper work, so I have no clue but holy shit is there a country in the world with a more complicated VISA process? QUestion: How could I get an extension of stay then if I never had to leave the country when I got my visa / or never applied for an extension of stay (as far as I know)
Steve *******
Tim. If you're doing 90 day reports and not leaving the country then you must be on a 1 year 'extention of stay' after previously having a non imm O based on dependency. The OP has the I year multi entry non imm O, not the 'extention of stay'

@Tod ********
I am on Non-O dependent visa and I simply have todo 90day report never had to leave the country...Is this different tot a "regular Non-O visa since mine is a NON-O dependent visa...? Just curious

Tod,can one obtain a 60 day extension in lieu existing and returning to the Kingdom every 90 days ?
Stefan ***********
If you are smart with planning. you apply new visa every year and 89 days. That means You enter Thailand just 1 day before your visa expires and get the normal 90 days to stay. That make a total stay in Thailand on a one yeay visa, 1year+89 days. Beware the last 89 days have no multiple entry.

Thanks Tod!

@Lu***
You get stamped in for 90 days EVERY entry as long as it's on or prior to the "enter before" date on the visa itself.
Lukus ************
@Tod ********
what if you stamp back in a week or 2 before it expires? You get the 90 days from the date of reentry regardless?
Tod *********
@Lu***
You can come in and out of the country as many times as you want on that visa and as long as you enter on or prior to the "enter before" date on the visa itself you will be stamped in for another 90 days.

I know people who have that visa and who travel out of the country every couple of weeks and each time they come back they get another 90 day stamp. :)

Tod, can you leave to visit home with this visa?
