Yeah I didn't get a letter from my embassy so this should be fun. I'll be taking my Thai girlfriend with me so hopefully she can help get past the "we don't get those letters from the US embassy anymore" part of the routine... thanks

Ok thanks. I got no letter with the new passport so looks like all I need are the old and new passports plus a form I'm sure immigration will have for me.

a normal passport is 28 pages, the larger one you get from renewing overseas is 50 pages.

You can apply for a non-O outside of Thailand.

You need to go to the bank the same day you go to immigration, have them update your bank book, have them give you a letter that shows your balance and activity on that day and provide you documentation that proves the money came in from overseas... so 3 things.

Plus you'll need whatever documentation you need for the non-o in the first place.

if you are in Thailand for an entire year then you are living here.

well if you are retired or married to a Thai citizen then that would be the proper visa type for you. If you are neither of those but want to live in the Kingdom full time, the LTR, elite, non-B, and non-E are all options.

Obtaining the correct visa for your purpose in the Kingdom is always the best advice.

Get the proper visa type for the reason you are in the kingdom will always be the best advice.
