very strange negative post, as if the whole of Thailand is Pattaya. If you are happy in Vietnam stay there. I am certain the person asking the questions is capable of evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of each country themselves. They are asking about the retirement visa and it's very easy to get in Thailand.
if you are over 50 apply for a retirement visa online via the Thai Embassy. If you get the non-OA you need a criminal check and mandatory insurance from a restricted list of companies, so most people choose the non-O visa. For the non-O you need to show evidence of 800,000 baht each (about £19,000) in your account and be willing to transfer it to Thailand soon after arrival in Thailand. Whatever you do, don't come to Thailand without a visa as it's impossible to open a bank account in Thailand without paying an agent about 60,000 baht these days (it used to be possible). Good luck.
that's good as long as you've got a way forward. I wasn't thinking 1 baht, more like 2,000 baht. I hope you get it sorted soon as it's a horrible situation.
Not had this problem with the bank (yet) but had a nightmare getting the yellow book at the amphur, so I feel your pain (some people seem to wander in with a couple of old photocopies and walk out in 10 minutes with it, but TiT!).
If you are not married, and the property is in your girlfriend's name, can't you draw up a simple lease contract for her house, pay her a nominal monthly fee and use that? You will need to include her house book and Thai id card in the lease contract.
I had a very similar experience today at Hua Hin IO. I arrived at about 11:40 and by the time I had completed the form and had everything checked it was 11:58, I thought there was no chance of me being seen before lunch, but decided I would get a number to try and be first after lunch. I was amazed to be called over immediately and I filled out my re-entry application whilst the IO checked and processed my extension. 20 minutes later I walked out with a years extension and re-entry permit. All the staff were super friendly and the officer even answered some questions I had, as I was moving from the 800,000 to the monthly 65,000 baht method. Brilliant service as always 👏👏👏
you can either get it from your immigration office or at the airport before you depart. I think it's 1,000 baht for single or 3,000 baht for multiple re-entry.
I don't think that is what Brandon is saying. The non-oa visa has a requirement for mandatory insurance and you are pretty restricted on which companies/policies you can use. If instead you get the non-o visa you can still get insurance, but without the restrictions.
Likewise, I haven't had any problems with Bkk Bank, I was simply answering your question. I must admit I haven't been hauled in for facial recognition yet, but it's no problem if they ask me to go there in person as I am only a 10 minute drive away.
