With the challenges at B of B I decided to open a new account elsewhere. As much as I support battling fraud I don’t believe the bank’s approach is of sound mind or ….. I walked into Krungthai with my lease, passport and tm. 30 minutes later I have a new bank card and an account. What was even nicer was when I transferred funds from wise they arrived in 10 seconds. The other bank was anywhere from a day to days. Nothing is perfect in life and I have to deal with the 50k per day maximum tranfer until this updates. The bank was at a loss for why B of B is operating this way. My account is still locked and once I get to the bank in a few weeks I will happily close this and never use them again.
Just to share and rant. On 27 May 2025, i went to the Bangkok Bank branch where I opened my account to update my personal details, re-submit all the required documents/passport/Thai driver’s licence and re-signed the forms as before. Task completed.
On 16 July, Bangkok bank app got locked so I went to Central Rama9 to update my personal information with AIS then I went to the Bangkok Bank branch upstairs to update my personal details again with the AIS receipt for verification to unlock the app. Task completed. App was unlocked after 5pm same day.
Tonight I checked the Bangkok Bank app and saw this message to visit the branch where I opened my account within 30 days. AGAIN 🤦🏻♂️ I think Bangkok Bank doesn’t understand what is customer service and support. GOOD GRIEF 🙄
Is anyone having problems transferring money to kasikorn bank this week. I send money there regularly using wise but for some reason this time the bank says it hasn't arrived although I had confirmation it had from wise
Hi guys l am seriously thinking of getting the DTV visa a lot less hassle than normal and has 5 years to run. I will probably do the Muay Thai course in Hua Hin. Has anyone on here done this visa and if so what are the benefits and pitfalls of the DTV. I already know about the bank problem. But don’t know how people transfer money. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Dropped into Kasikorn today to ask about opening an account because the delays with the Wise to Bangkok Bank transfers is becoming untenable. Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, I couldn't do it and was cited the only 3 visas acceptable are ED, work and retirement.
Something going down with bank accounts today. Seen several posts across the visa groups. Not sure if it’s a particular bank specific thing or what. The posts mention about the banks closing accounts of people not on long term visas.
If anyone has information as to what’s going on then please share.
