You can use a monthly income method instead - equal to 40,000 per month.

Funds in CDs are not allowed

In Thailand the funds have to be in a liquid account such as a savings account

First time applicant 3 months age of the required balance. Second Application is 2 months... as Corrected to 2 months in both situations

The money has to be in a liquid account in your name. A CD cannot be used. generally in Thailand Itvis just a savings account

Alexander - where are you located inside Thailand.. You just need to do a 'border bounce' as you said - exit Thailand - get stamped out - then reenter within minutes. Where you are can of course have a bearing on the easiest most convenient border crossing to use.. Also the Non Immigrant multi-entry visas like you have usually get an easier time of it versus tourist visas and Exempt entries but you could still be ask to show cash as has been suggested
