I just had someone come in on a 30 day visa exempt stamp. He wanted to get a single entry 90 day Non-Immigrant Type-O visa INSIDE the country, based on marriage to a thai, with the intention of applying for a yearly extension of stay after that.
Just so you know, to apply for a Non-O inside the country at Chaengwattana (be it for being over 50, being married to a thai, or supporting children here) you have to have FIFTEEN days remaining on your current permission to stay stamp, because Non-O's issued inside the country go under consideration for two weeks.
He filled out form TM.87 (application for visa) and provided;
*copies from his passport of of his data page, his current permission to stay stamp, departure card
*a copy of the affirmation of freedom to marry from his embassy AND a copy of the certified translation with the MFA stamp on it
*a copy of the Kor Ror 2 & 3 marriage documents from the Amphur, his thai wife's I/D & a certified copy of her house book
*bank letter dated the day he apply stating the applicant has 400K banked ( at this stage though there is no seasoning required)
*copies of all the pages of his bank book updated on the date he applied and the last page showing the transfer codes to prove the money originated from overseas <-(a prerequisite for applying for a Non-0 inside the country)
*copy of the lease agreement <- he wouldn't have needed this IF his thai wife's house book was from Bangkok, but hers was from Pathum Thani so she needed to prove she lived in Bangkok
*4 pictures of them in front of their address numbers, getting married, etc.
The above stuff, 2000baht and 10 minutes later he walked out with a receipt saying come back in two weeks for the results. FWIW: I've NEVER seen them, accept an application, take your money, have it go "under consideration" and then be denied.
When he goes back in two weeks they'll stamp the single entry 90 day Non-O visa into his passport, stamp USED on it and give him a new 90 day permission to stay until stamp. Once that has 45 days or less he can go back out and apply for the yearly extension of stay.
Anyway, just wanted to let people know you can most definitely get a single entry 90 day Non-Immigrant Type-O visa inside the country at Chaengwattana in section C-1.
