2026 Guide: Thai Marriage Visa Extension (Non-O)

I successfully received my marriage-based visa extension today! However, my first attempt earlier this month was rejected because I was missing a specific document: a Police Clearance Certificate. To save everyone else from wasting a trip to Chaeng Watthana, I’m sharing the exact requirements and the lesson I learned the hard way. If your nationality requires a police report, please note that you need to start the process at least 45 days in advance.

Location: Immigration Bureau, Chaeng Watthana, Bangkok

1. Documents for the Applicant (Foreign Spouse)

* Passport: Photocopies of every page (ensure they are signed).

* Photos: Two (2) 4x6 cm recent photos.

* Reporting Forms: Copies of TM.30 (Notification of Residence) and TM.47 (90-Day Reporting).

* TM.6: Departure card (if you still have one from a previous entry).

* Required Immigration Forms:

* TM.7: Application for Extension of Temporary Stay.

* STM.2: Acknowledgement of Terms and Conditions for Permit of Stay.

* STM.11: Consent Form for Fact-Checking and Information Verification.

* Overstay Form: Acknowledgement of Penalties for Visa Overstay.

* Financial Proof (Bank Documents):

* Bank Book: Copies of the front page and the most recent transaction page.

* Bank Letter: A formal certificate of balance issued on the day of application.

* Bank Statement: 4 to 6 months of transaction history, issued on the day of application.

* Police Clearance Certificate: > Note: This is required for specific nationalities (primarily from certain African and South Asian countries).

> * Process: You must visit Immigration at least 45 days before expiry to request a referral letter for the police.

> * Processing Time: The police report typically takes 5–7 business days to issue.

2. Documents for the Thai Spouse

* Thai ID Card: Signed photocopy.

* House Registration (Tabian Baan): Copy of the page showing the spouse's name.

* STM.10 Form: Affidavit of Family Relationship to a Thai National.

3. Marriage & Housing Documents

* Marriage Certificate: Signed photocopy.

* Kor Ror 2: An updated certified copy from the local district office (Amphoe). (Note: Laksi District Office opens at 8:00 AM).

* Residence Proof: * Copy of the Lease Agreement (if renting).

* Copy of the Owner’s ID Card and House Registration (Tabian Baan).

* Copy of the Title Deed (Chanote) of the property.

* Hand-drawn map showing the route to your residence.

4. Required Photos

Provide 10 different photos of the couple. They must be current and different from previous years:

* Outdoor: In front of the house/building with the house number clearly visible.

* Indoor: Showing the couple together in the bedroom, living room, and dining area.

* Social: Photos of the couple attending events or out together.

5. Fees & Reminders

* Extension Fee: 1,900 THB.

* Originals: You must bring all original documents (Passport, Bank Book, Marriage Certificate, etc.) for verification.

Edited: Retirement non O-A visa application (online since we are in the US) asks for a return date. Are we supposed to use an estimated date since we are planning on staying or are they wanting a date or a flight out of thialand within 180 days? Also, if you request the 90 day visa instead and do non oa when in Thailand would you bting the police clearance with you from the US?

A police clearance certificate is allegedly required for a DTV or Retirement Visa. Some claim they have never heard of this.

What is the actual situation? Does anyone have any experience with this?

How strictly is this enforced?

Hello Everyone,

Thanks to the admin for accepting my request! 😊

I'm currently in Chiang Mai on an Ed+ visa and need to apply for a visa to another country. They require a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). Could someone guide me on where to go in Chiang Mai to get a PCC? What are the steps I need to follow?

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I've been renewing my marriage-based extension annually for a few years now. At my appointment yesterday, for the first time ever, the Immigration Officer asked me to get a fingerprint and a clearance report. They gave me a letter to submit and get back once it's ready.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? Is this a new standard procedure, or could it be a random check?

Any insight would be appreciated!

I am just at the start of the process to apply for me and my wife's LTR visa under the "retiree over 50yrs with >= $80000 annual income" category and ran into a few challenges on the Thai embassy's website here in the US.

I filled out the online application but at the end it wanted me to upload an Authotizatioj letter from BOI (the Thailand Boatd of Investment).

So then I logged into their website and they want me to upload a bunch of documents some of which are mentioned as (To be requested on a case by case basis) e.g., the police clearance certificates.

My question is if i don't submit these in the first go, will they reject my application? Or shall I submit the FBI clearance asking with the rest of it?

Has anyone actually successful been through the LTR process?

I'm in Cakifornia and trying to do this all online before we fly in sometime in late October 2025.

Any advice will be appreciated

Hello I have a question regarding police clearance certificate.

I was dismissed from the school and when I ask about my visa status, they don’t give clear answer. I am planning to leave Thailand this week. And I need police clearance certificate for my another country visa.

I want to know if my visa is canceled and I have been overstay, is there any affect on my police clearance certificate. Do they recheck my visa status?
