The recent scams by the Chinese mafia. BKK Bank was hit hard financially. Unfortunately, their knee jerk reactions has caused even more damage. Too many people are not willing to go through this much drama for them to house OUR money. Other banks are not excessive in this, but they are being extra cautious as to who is opening an account.

I have had Bangkok bank for almost 20 years.

I am done with them useless bungling in my opinion. I leave only enough to keep the bank account open.

I am a long timer on a retirement visa. I was told for my last 90 day report that I was already in the system and didn't need to come back. The officer even seemed slightly annoyed that I returned to report it again. I am still puzzled from the encounter. I think with the influx of new expats they are overwhelmed. I am going to do my report regardless simply to play it safe.
