TLDR : Answer Summary
Several users recommend various VPN services for use outside the USA. ExpressVPN and NordVPN are among the most mentioned options, with prices around $99 for a year for ExpressVPN and varying rates for NordVPN, which also offers a free trial. Other notable mentions include TunnelBear (approximately $50 a year), Ivacy (around $3.50 per year on a long-term plan), and Surfshark. Users have noted that while using a VPN can help access US streaming services and maintain banking accessibility, the content available on platforms like Netflix may differ based on the user's location unless a VPN is used to bypass regional restrictions.

I use ExpressVPN I travel to many countries I suggest buying an Amazon fire stick. Because you can’t install it on a TV, but you can install it on your iPhone laptop tablet and Amazon fire stick If you don’t have an Amazon account you can set one up for free then you can install ExpressVPN on up to eight devices. I’m in South America now and can watch all my streaming services from the US. It’s about $100 for a year but I pay $12 monthly.

Depending on where you are from, some of the free ones work okay, try that first to see if it meets your needs, if not you could subscribe later.

I use PIA, no issues in over a decade.

Nord has worked consistently on 4 continents. They can be discovered is someone trys hard enough, so services like ESPN or YouTube TV will cut you off eventually.

I’ve used express VPN for 4 years. It’s been very good. About $38 per year

Astrill is the best I have used, have tried many over the years being in and out of China, most fail there but Astrill is brilliant.

Ivacy has some really good deals - i have used them for over 5 years now. Works well in all S.E. Asia, Canada, and Cuba.

I got 10 years for $35us. Yup, $3.50/year.

I see a lifetime offer now for $39, but I am pretty sure it is only 5 years, not a real 'lifetime', but still good price (and you might get a free 5 years extension...)

yes, what is the double VPN or that other mode to work for Netflix and stuff

Netflix and others can often see through a basic VPN or see that you're using a VPN. Some vpn but not all have a way around that. Search Google for articles on it. Here is an example.

I’m unclear- I have my own Netflix account- will I have issues accessing from outside US?

I’d appreciate any clarification

Netflix tracks your login location and the content is different for different countries. So when you're in Thailand you access the Thai version of Netflix. It has to do with the content licensing rights and which countries Netflix has paid the content creators to be able to access the movies.

So when you're in Thailand, the content available on Netflix is geared more to Thailand and less American content.

You'll still be able to access Netflix but view a different catalog of shows and movies unless you use a VPN that tricks Netflix into thinking that you are actually in the USA (or whichever country you prefer). When using a VPN you can choose a server in the country you prefer.

This also helps with banking, some government websites, etc that track location for security purposes etc. If you watch videos on Amazon Prime this is also the case.
