The numbers appear to be totally made up. The only real number we got was the 12,000 in the first 3 months.

 why is it a red flag and what actual examples do you have of embassies refusing for this purpose. Or are you making assumptions?

There could be many legitimate reasons to switch. Not least the annual renewal which is a pain to say the least.

 I didn't say you shouldn't be insured. I said it was a requirement for that visa. And whilst you say your own insurance can cover you many have reported they had to get a Thai policy for that visa
