Very clear from this update with 12,000 approvals in the first four months that the country is not getting overwhelmed by applicants.

Also if you watch it you will see they actively want more applying and coming as it " will boost the economy"

I doubt there will be any tightening of requirements in the near future.

It would also appear to be very clear that extension could be a bureaucratic nightmare and border bouncing or overseas visits would be advisable

you just said in your post above you remain here on tourist visas. So why would anyone request your bank details from your home country as a tourist?

consulates don't control 90 day reports, just the issuing of the visa

There are no reasons to suggest at present they will change anything

Thailand wants people in country spending money. GDP growth or lack of indicates that

Housing market is massively under utilised with hundreds of thousands of empty condos nationwide

Every business could do with more customers.

They have a visa that interests thousands of not possibly tends of thousands but it is not in real terms pushing the needle

Personally I see it around for many years to come as the country enjoys the extra revenue
