Hi everyone, I have a question about the DTV visa.
Right now, I’m holding a Non-B visa but I plan to quit my current job and switch to a DTV early next year.
👉 My concerns are:
• Could my history of having a Non-B visa be a red flag when applying for DTV ?
• What documents should I prepare if I want to apply under freelance/remote work? (I have some overseas transactions since I do some freelance tasks at my free time, but they’re not monthly. Would that be acceptable?)
• For bank statements: 3 months of stable statements from Thai bank. Would that be enough?
If anyone has gone through a similar situation or has switched from Non-B to DTV, I’d really appreciate your advice or review. Thankss🙏
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice about switching visas here in Chiang Mai.
* I’m currently on a Non-B visa extension through a tutoring company I work for.
* My extension expires on Jan 5, 2026.
* I’m married to a Thai citizen, and we live together in Chiang Mai.
* I want to leave my job and instead switch over to a Non-O marriage visa.
I understand for the marriage extension I’ll need:
* 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account (seasoned 2 months before applying), OR proof of 40k monthly income.
* Marriage certificate, wife’s ID, lease/landlord documents, and photos together.
My questions:
1. Is it possible in Chiang Mai to switch directly from a Non-B extension to a Non-O (marriage) without leaving the country?
2. If not, would my best option be to do a border run, come back on a Tourist visa, and then convert that to a 90-day Non-O marriage inside Thailand?
3. For proof of residence, my name is on our lease — do I need to update it so both my wife and I are listed, or will landlord’s ID + lease + photos be enough?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this recently in Chiang Mai, as I know rules can vary by office.
Hi, I’m planning to apply for the Soft Power DTV at the Thai Embassy in London. I’d like to start with a Muay Thai course, but I’m wondering - would it be possible to switch to a “Discover Thai Nature” course a few months after arriving in Thailand (before the first border run)? Or would I be required to stick with Muay Thai for the entire duration of the visa (up to 5 years)? Thanks in advance for any help or insight! 🙏🏻
Has anyone switched from a type O long-term visa to a DTV Thai Embassy in Laos? How was your experience? I'm wondering if they would give a person a hard time because they already have a long-term visa.
I’m hoping to get some advice on switching my 1-year single entry Non-B extension to a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Laos.
Has anyone here gone through a similar situation? Were there any specific steps you had to take before leaving Thailand? I’m a bit concerned about how this process might go, so any tips or experiences would be really appreciated!
If one starts with a 1 year retirement visa, is it possible to change/apply for a marriage visa midway in the year, or the first visa needs to go to full term? Thanks
Hello, I've lived in Thailand for several years and will soon be switching from a work permit and non-Immigrant B visa to an ED visa. I have asked language schools if I can switch visas without exiting Thailand and re-entering on a tourist visa, and have gotten varying responses. Does anyone know if this is possible to switch visas while in Thailand? If I do have to leave and re-enter on a Tourist visa, would there be any issue with immigration since I've lived here on a non-Immigrant B? Thanks for any advice
Hi! So I came here on a one year teaching visa. Can't finish my contract because I have to go back earlier. But I want to stay in thailand for a few months. Can I switch from work visa to tourist? Will I have to leave Thailand?
I am a UK citizen in Vietnam looking to get to Thailand on the STV. A couple of months ago the embassy in Hanoi said that they could get me this visa without me having to be in my home country. Today I enquired with the HCMC embassy and they told me I must be in my home country. I asked if I could go in with a regular Tourist visa and then switch visa when I am in Thailand (as I have read many time this is possible) but HCMC just told me no I can't!
