I am not in the country yet, I will apply for a Non-resident O visa. Thank you especially for the information about the Kor Ror 22 and your experience with your local Amphur, that's very helpful.
When you are 50 or older, you can base your yearly extension on retirement. The financial requirements are higher though, 800.000 baht instead of 400.000 baht.
I want to appIy for a marrige visa in November, also with a non-O retirement visa. I'm Dutch and the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok provides a Certificate of Residence for this purpose. I can only hope that with this document I will be able to open a Thai bank account.
But of course he must apply for the 30 days extension before his 60 days stamp expires, that goes without saying. In the end I think we do not have an important difference of opinion. We don't know his entrance date, but he probably won't have to worry, he'll be able to get the 30 days extension.
The Thai immigration rules are sometimes (?) inscrutable.... But I don't give up. If he will enter the country after 27 or 28 of August (I didn't count the exact days) he can get the 30 days extension, as long as he does this within the validity of the visa (9th of November). From my own experience I know this for sure: when you apply for the 30 days extension before the visa expires, it will be granted. So, I do not completely agree with you.
I see, you're right. So the single entry tourist visa has become completely pointless with the 60 days visa exemption.
I hardly dare to say, but looking at the result I may be right after all. When the 9th of November is within the 2 months period of stay, he can get the 30 days extention at the immigration office. Hopefully for him he just didn't know this possibility.
