Yep, I opened an account with Bangkok Bank ( in Prachinburi ) several months ago on a 30 day extension ( Visa waiver ) . . . . went to immigration, with copies of bio and 30 day extension pages in my passport, and proof of address . . . completed the form . ( ticking the box for bank account ) . Immigration officer gave me letter ( all in Thai ) to take to the bank stating it was sufficient to open an account . . ..5 minutes later was in the bank opening an account . . ..👍

No agent, no insurance required . . No issues,

Went to Immigration, with proof of address, copies of passport, biometric and Visa extension pages ... . Completed a form, (ticking the box for Bank account )

Immigation gave me a letter/form ( all in Thai ) and immigration officer stated this would be sufficient to be allowed to open a bank account . ... bank account duly opened that same day .. ( without insurance and a small amount think it was 600baht )

not as difficult as I thought. . . . But as others have said, they do love their paperwork . .

Take many copies . ..even the bank wanted copies.. ..good luck

Yes they knew, as I had to produce copies of my passport showing my 30 day extension and biometric page

Yep came in 30 days visa free, and obtained the 30 days extension ( same immigration office )

Now on 'Non O' 90 days visa . ...

though it's not something I would consider,

( would it be classified as.. . making false declarations to obtain a visa? ) . .

Don't immigration often ask to see the boarding pass . ... would/could that be flagged up on their system when you enter?

On a tourist 30 day extension . . Went to immigration, photocopies of proof of address, 30 day extension, passport details,

They gave me a letter to take to the bank . . Account opened . . No agent involved or required . . Immigration officer was really helpful . ..👍
