TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion offers advice on how to open a Kasikorn Bank account while on a tourist visa in Thailand. Several users recommend consulting a local immigration office for assistance and obtaining necessary documents like proof of residence. They suggest that while some may face challenges getting an account, there are ways to succeed by securing the right paperwork. Alternatives such as using an agent or considering other banks like Bangkok Bank are also mentioned, along with personal experiences of users who navigated similar situations.

Hi guys ...can I ask if you don't mind

I have a Thai wife , and I've had a Bangkok Bank account 5 years ago .

So can I either get a joint Bank Account with my wife ?

OR would Bangkok Bank renew my previous account?

Many thanks for your help.

COR ( certificate of residence) is free> BUT if u want it same day its 300 baht at phuket town< patong is 500 baht

U need copy of the screenshot form ur hotel tm 30 checking u in
Kim *********
not so difficult with a proof of residence - 500 baht immi - they will want a copy of the tm30 and see your passport. Tell them it is for opening a bank account because it can be used for different things and the reason is on the proof of residence. I did that a few months ago and had no problems opening an account in Krungsri

I opened an account with Bangkok bank very recently . .( on a 30 day extension Visa free entry ) After being turned down by several banks . . I went to the local immigration office,

who asked for photocopies of passport, 30 day extension, proof of address and girlfriends ID . . . upon acceptance, they gave me a 'letter' in Thai . . that then enabled me to open an account ( one of the banks that had previously refused ) go figure . .

Good luck, 👍

@Ned ******
, yep same. Although mine was a joint account with my partner who's Thai.

Still had to do what you did, bit of an ordeal but got it done.

@Ned ******
this is not possible in Bangkok. You must have a 90 day report on file to get this at Bangkok immigration so it depends on where they are

Siam Legal. They will write up paperwork to get a Bangkok Bank account.
Brandon ************
@Keith *****
Siam Legal no longer offers this service unless you also use them to apply for a visa or extension.

remember, where you open an account, it will be the only place you can do business for free. Every other branch is going to charge you! Chang mai?

@Carlos ********
not entirely true. Depends on the bank and the bankcard. As an example, the type of card i have with my Krungthai bank account allows me to withdraw anywhere in the country for free, and my KBank allows 25 free withdrawals per month outside BKK
Andy **********
What is your location?? Then maybe someone will recommend an agent in that area, There are quite a few agents in Pattaya that will assist you with opening a bank account, I think your only option is Bangkok bank if you're on a short term visa.

@Carlos ********
it's only ฿15 out of province ATM withdrawals, it is with Bangkok bank anyway.

@John *******
go to a standalone branch near you and ask for a list of what's required to open an account. I'm with Bangkok bank and they are good
Us *****
You are going to have to pay an agent.
Us *****
Just go into a visa center, they will know someone
Us *****
It is a pain the the ass to open a Thai bank account on visa exempt these days. You will have to go into a visa center and ask them. Basically, you are paying an agent to bribe a bank person. Or you can just go to bank to bank and ask them to open an account.
