you misunderstood....before gas prices shot up I didn't tip taxis (other than rounding up), but now I tip generously because of spike in gas

I also like that aspect of using the app, but had bad experience with Bolt recently- many of the drivers don't know how to use the app and they had great difficulty picking me up, even though both of our locations were clear on the map. I gave up after waiting for 3 drivers and 45 minutes. Jumped into metered cab and it was 20% cheaper than Bolt....and grab is always more expensive than Bolt. Also sometimes bolt is too cheap and then driver complains and guilts you into paying more.

Also both Grab and Bolt are more expensive than meter rates, sometimes significantly.

Consider tipping more generously. I normally don't tip anything more than rounding up to the nearest 10THB, but gas prices are up 50% in past year and meter rates have not increased at all. So drivers are making nothing these days if using meter.

Yes, I got the same email today (arrived in Jan). It's from the same site that charges for Thaipass. Not sure how anyone falls for this nonsense?

No point carrying your physical passport....I have a scan on my phone of the photo page, entry stamp page and departure card.

All the "onward ticket" services do is book a ticket and cancel it within the 24 hr window that most airlines give you to cancel for full refund. You may as well just do that yourself.

WiFi is a waste of time, everyone travelling in SEA should have a local SIM card. Cheap as chips

Costs about $5 to unlock a phone.....try Google or YouTube.....no one should have a locked phone these days

ya I don't know why anyone bothers with WiFi, local SIM is essential and dirt cheap
