What's up with Bangkok closures? My gym is apparently staying open but at my GFs condo they have closed the small gym and pool. I'm really bummed about the pool (and I'm the only one who ever uses it LOL) I haven't seen anything that prohibits pools from being open?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The closures of pools and gyms in Bangkok vary by condominium management decisions, often influenced by local COVID-19 cases. Some condos have shut down these facilities as a precaution, particularly if there have been positive cases reported. This reflects a lack of uniform regulations, leading each condo to make their own rules regarding facility access. The community discusses how these closures can sometimes seem contradictory and may prioritize financial concerns over health safety.
Maybe you should get out more... There is a global pandemic and your hotel is obviously taking precautionary measures to prevent the further spread in your building.

List of Condos in BK with positive covid case or cases. Might explain why some are open and some are closed

I just spent 6 months in Colombia. Condos and hotels closed the pools but allowed the gym to be open 1 person at a time. You booked 1 hour slots with the security at the front desk.

Just curious , is there some page or site describing the current types of businesses that have to be closed in Bangkok now ? Or is it just every business making their own decisions ?

It's all about shutting down fun and forcing you to stay at home. Anyway, I'm so glad I don't live in a condo. You have no privacy and you probably have to wear a mask just to take out your garbage.

From an infection control perspective, most of the restrictions I've seen taking place here in TH make absolutely zero sense, so I'm really not surprised your building is closing the pool. I was staying at a serviced residence in bkk that closed their pool, but was still running a breakfast buffet in a small, cramped restaurant and had their rooftop bar packed every night.
Right. Like I said, I'm not surprised they're closing pools. They're clearly prioritizing money over controlling covid, and then trying to claim their money saving measures are covid control measures. It's frustrating, but not surprising here in Thailand.

Ya I would say the pool is probably the safest place to be. It is almost always empty and doubt there is any chance at all that the virus could transmit there. I just thought they would only close if they were required to

Make up rules on fly. Blame foreigners. Raise costs.

My condo closed pool and gym too

It's most likely because someone has tested positive for Covid in the condo. There's certainly no requirement to close pools or gyms.

gyms will be gone soon.

There seems to be a virus
And that might be the reason why some things are closed

Up to the condo management at the end of the day. The pool and gym in my condo are both currently open, for example.
