TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a 30-day Tourist Visa (TR) in Bangkok, you should go to the Chaeng Wattana immigration office, not MTT (Mueang Thong Thani). It's recommended to avoid going on Mondays and Fridays and to visit in the morning for a less busy experience. You can also make an appointment in advance to streamline the process.

Did you enter on a TOURIST VISA?

If you entered on 60 day TOURIST VISA...you go to the main Thai Immigration office CW... Chaeng Watthana

If you entered visa exempt

You go to MTT...Mueang Thong Thani immigration office.

Suggest avoiding Monday and Fridays. Morning times are best.
